somaster989
well, this is actually what caused my system error making my computer unable to start. :o this program, called lockx[Caution: ExecutableFile] is an AIM virus. It uses another persons screenname and gives you a message saying: "hey, this is a cool picture.."and then it gives you a link. when you click on the link, a new window opens and the program tries to run or something. usually, people will enable it to run (cause their stupid, like me) as soon as you start your computer, lockx[Caution: ExecutableFile] tries to run. if you have the option selected where it asks you whether you want to run it or not, DO NOT RUN IT. on my computer, it got saved in a windows file called system32, and i think it might have infected some other files..thats why my computer couldnt start. thankfully, i finally got rid of the virus using ad-aware by Lavasoft. so this is just a heads up for anything like that if you happen to use AIM frequently. and another thing...when you are downloading files make sure that you check the box where it says 'always notify you before running these types of programs' or something like that. and its always good to note down where the program is saved.
devilheart14
yeh this virus has been around for quite a while. Be sensible when downloading thing dont download of strangers or places that look sus but this is from friends. Would you ever accept a file from a friend when they hadnt been talking about it (the file sent) and because their comp is screwed cant talk 2 u. I dont think so!! I would like to warn everyone here that there is a file going around on msn extremely fast. You will get a message saying "omg.. " or something like that, there's supposed to be a lot of versions. The file contains ends with cuffs.pif and is NOT a picture. No .pif file is a picture, these are executables! I don't know what will happen if you open it, but I do know it will send a message like that to all of your contacts and then log you off. I've had this from 5 different people already and heard from about 50-60 of my contacts that they have recieved a similair message after my warning. Once again, do NOT open ANY .pif links (preferably no links at all) the coming days, untill I have more info. Update: the link is 'chello.nl/g.geurts1/handcuffs.pif' and has text like LOOK or OMG in front of it, the sender will log off right after. Mercifull
Theres loads of viruses that spread via messenger programs, you just have to be acareful what attachments and links you click on. If it looks suspicious wait until your friend verifies that (s)he meant to sent it. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
