Combat Mage Questions

On mage staffs, you can autocast two ways. One is setup to give you 4 mage xp/damage. The other way gives you 2 mage xp and 2 def xp/damage.

Questions:

1) Will you hit harder per spell with one method or another?

2) Do you cast spells faster with one method or another?

I tend to believe that you do hit the same and cast the same speed both ways. This is because you can still use the staff by selecting a spell then selecting the target. Also, nowhere does it say that the 2/2 xp split raises your defenses in combat. It just has a picture and changes your xp flow.

Don't: say "I think its this way..."

Do: Point me to evidence with your response. I haven't found any from Tip Its magic guide, Runescape's In-game tutorial, nor Runescape's own magic guide.

I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way.

I believe you can't find anything from those resources because it is deemed "common sense".

Just taking a stab at it.

In RSC, it used to show the exact combat bonuses every combat style gave. However, that was removed in RS2 and it is no longer possible to figure out if defensive autocast gives less mage attack.
