FacePALM24
Hi everyone. What's the fastest way to get from 24-40 farming? I don't care if it's expensive, but I just need the fastest method. I need 40 Farming for a treasure trail clue -.- Anyone have any tips? Thanks!
Dexek
Plant the highest level fruit tree/trees that you can. These give the majority of experience. You could also hunt down the Distraction & Diversion penguins weekly, and use their experience on farming to speed it up a bit (although this could be better used on other stats). Herbs & Marigolds are worth planting for the profits alone. They don't give massive experience, but it adds to the overall amount with a decent profit. They should help pay for your fruit tree/tree patches. I would suggest paying the farmers to watch your fruit tree/tree patches, as you will not lose time with plant deaths. FacePALM24
I see, thanks. But I'm pretty new to farming, so I'm not sure how to start. I made a few oak saplings, and planted one in a patch in Varrock. Should I just tele to the other tree patches and plant them there? Also, should I go ahead and do Vinesweeper while waiting? Thanks
Championfurydelta123
Yes just teleport to the next tree patch and plant it there. For the gnome stronghold one I recommend you use the ring of duelling to teleport to MA and use the spirit tree. Llyta fruit tree patch = teleport crystal. Refer to Zaap's In Depth Farming Guide in the AOW if you need further help. Vinesweeper: This depends on your personality, if you're patient or not. Personally I hate vinesweeper because it takes a long time to get points and each point is worth only 1xp so if you want to keep your sanity in tact stick with just trees and fruit trees. Kietaro1
A very simple guide to follow is as follows: Home teleport, plant tree behind castle Teleport to Falador, plant tree Teleport to camelot, plant fruit tree Take boat to Brimhave, plant fruit tree Teleport to varrock, plant tree Use spirit tree at GE to teleport to the Tree Gnome Village, plant fruit tree. Use spirit tree to teleport to thre grand tree, plant fruit tree, go southeast and plant tree. This is using supercompost at every patch And paying the farmer to grow the trees. Herbs and flowers, etc help but the major exp is with trees. Do not wait for the trees, they wil grow and wait to be checked so go do something else. A watched pot never boils. Man, I miss farming... Jaffy1
I see, thanks. But I'm pretty new to farming, so I'm not sure how to start. What I would recommend for trees: Items: -Buy around 10 plant pots. -Buy x (number of fruit and tree seeds). Sowing seeds: Now use the plant pot on any farming patch while having a trowel in your inventory to fill it with dirt. Then use the seed on it and water it (use watering can on it). All you have to do is wait for it to become a grown seedling, and when that's done you can plant them while having a spade in your inventory. To save time: make sure you have ready to plant samplings in your bank. After you sow a seed in a pot and water it you can also bank it and it will mature as well to the plantable form. Method for farming: You should do regular farming runs. Plan your route carefully. What I usually do is the following: 1. Start in Lumbridge (tree patch) 2. Teleport Varrock (tree patch) 3. Take the spirit tree (next to the maze there is a fruit tree patch). 4. Spirit tree again, to the Gnome Stronghold (fruit tree and tree patch). 5. Teleport Ardougne (allotment and fruit tree patch when you take the boat to Brimhaven). 6. Teleport Camelot (allotment and fruit tree patch in Catherby). Of course you can add explorer ring (cabbage teleport to Falador allotments) and the Ectophial (allotments west of the Ectofuntus) to your route in between teleports. Naturally you should pay the farmers to care for your crops. Additional experience can be earned from wielding the Falador shield 2 (easy + medium achievement diary) at the Falador patches and from wielding Magic secateurs (fairy tale part 1 Quest). Oh, and if you haven't done it, take the time to do Garden of Tranquility, that gives a fair amount of xp as well (though when you do that, make sure to have stuff to alc to keep you busy). You should do regular farming runs, especially before going to sleep at night. Keep in mind that fruit trees take much longer to mature than regular trees, and that allotments are faster even. FacePALM24
Well, I can't really do fruit trees right now, so I planted oaks in 5 tree patches and paid the farmers to look after it for me. Do I simply wait now? Probably do Vinesweeper for some extra xp I guess?

Do I simply wait now? Probably do Vinesweeper for some extra xp I guess? If you enjoy Vinesweeper, than yes. Although do not forget to also plant in allotments and harvest in approx. 1 hour after planting. Oak trees take around 3,5 hours. Also, if you are playing Vinesweeper you could just bind an amulet of farming to a flower patch (let's say Catherby) and plant flowers and herbs too. Check on them regularly, should get you extra xp. Note: always supercompost when doing herbs. FacePALM24
Thanks for the in-depth guide. It should help a lot, will it take me a long time to get to 40 farming? Jaffy1
Well I'm not sure if you'll make it within 3 days, but I guess it should be possible. Why not extend the membership? Zaaps1
Thanks for the in-depth guide. It should help a lot, will it take me a long time to get to 40 farming? I only have 3 days of membership left and I want to finish this clue :| That means you'll be getting 30k xp over the course of 3 days. Very possible. Each tree run will yield about 3k xp and each fruit tree run will yield about 7k xp. You can also double up or even triple up on tree runs. So on trees alone you should be getting 16k xp per day (excluding the first day, when you will need to plant all the trees). Each herb run will also yield about 1.5k xp (assuming ranarrs + marigolds), and you can do 5-6 of those per day. You could farm allotments as well, although I don't know the exact numbers for that. If I told you the average yield was 16 (assuming supercompost + magic secuteurs) you should be able to figure it out. I've been told Vinesweeper is 20-30k farming xp per hour. I was no personal confirmation, but that's what I have been told. It may be true, and if it is, you should consider it. Judging from your posts, you need 40 farming to do a quest which unlocks a location you must go to for your clue? If that is the case, remember you can use items/familiars such as the garden pie to boost your farming level to meet the requirements. You only need to do this for the segment of the quest which requires that skill. Garden pie gives +3, so you would really only need 37 farming. However, some quests do not allow this and require you to meet all of the requirements before starting the quest (Lunar Diplomacy, for example). Since that is the case, and you must allow yourself time to do the quest and possibly meet the other requirements, and since you only have 2-3 days, I would definitely recommend at least trying Vinesweeper for the experience. I've never been good at it myself, so pick up a guide. If I have been told right, the level should take no more than 2 hours at Vinesweeper. ~It's Super Effective!
