Computer games

If it works, maybe try using imgburn to make a .iso of the game, and then mount it on a virtual drive that a program like Daemon tools makes.

I never really asked myself that question and usually use the CD, that's the reason I don't know if imgburn will make a good .iso if the game is protected.

Game Jackal. It creates a profile from the disc, which allows you to run the game without the disc in the drive. It's not piracy, as the profile will only work on the computer it is made on.

Depending on the game some will give you the option of installing the entire contents so that you don't have to use the disk, but in general you would have to create an "iso" image.

From what I have read Alcohol 120% and Daemon tools are the best thing to use for this, especially if it is protected from normal copying.

I hope this helps.

You can also get a NoCD / NoDVD. So you could be using a 5-15mb file to replace the origional [Caution: Executable File] in the folder you installed it to, instead of an entire mounted/saved ISO of the disk which would be the same size as the initial install of the game.

Only problems I would say for this method is

- File safety (Might be infected)

- Finding the correct one to work with your version of the game.

- Legality issues.

Game jackal costs money. Use imgburn to rip an .iso of the game you want to play without a cd and use VirtualCloneDrive to play it.

This.

Although I believe you have to pay for alcohol 120%, however you can get a free demo of Alcohol 52%. Daemon/alchohol basically make a virtual CD drive, and you then mount the virtual CD in this to run. There are many options out there, and even DVD's can be ripped with the right software.
