superaymond
Im not sure if anyone has encountered this problem, but I was trying to play Battlefield 2 and Battlfield 2142 and both of these games crashes due to some kind of audio failure. I believe in battlefield 2, it was the bf2voicesetup[Caution: Executable File] that got stuck, not sure about 2142. In either cases, when I try to access the audio in the option tab, the game freezes. I've tried both roll back and upgrade on my audio driver. Both failed. I've searched on google this problem, but not a lot of people seem to have this and none of the solution provided any help. I ran it with compatibility to XP and it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I should try next? Dark Phoenix Clan Site
Thorstian
I recall having that problem in Battlefield 2, and all I did to fix it was re-install the game. I don't know if you have tried this yet already, but if not then it's worth a shot. Not like you will be loosing any saved data seeing as it saves online right? If you have tried it, and it still didn't work, then sorry I couldn't help more  ____ EDIT Done some more research quick, the problem shouldn't be with your audio drivers, but rather "BF2VoiceSetup[Caution: Executable File]" itself. I would try and put your disk back in, and explore until you find it. When found, run it, and follow the instructions, as that should then setup the VOIP again. superaymond
i've tried to install it 20 times lol.. bf2 gets stuck when bf2voicesetup[Caution: Executable File] is running during installation. Dark Phoenix Clan Site
Thorstian
Oh I assumed you already had BF2 installed, sorry. Seems strange, hopefully it isn't a defect on the disk contents. Are you able to test it on any other computer by any chance? Just to check the disk does in fact work properly? Spectrum
I have the same problem as superaymond. It finishes the installation (ie: the green loading bar is full) then the InstallShield for BF2 minimizes and it won't maximize. It looks like it's frozen, but when I press ctrl + alt + del and go to Task Manager, "BF2VoiceSetup[Caution: Executable File]" is running. I left it like this for about 4 hours but it didn't do anything. Do you think Vista is blocking it somehow? I have tried to install it multiple times, but the same thing happens each time. If I force close (end task) the Install shield, I can play the game, but I can't update it. I get this error: "Can't find install folder for Battlefield 2" when I try to update the game. I think it's missing the registry. Note: I have played this game before on Windows XP, and it worked fine.
superaymond
i acctually played both 2142 and bf2 on vista on my thinkpad t61. it worked fine. but i just got this new thinkpad, and it doesn't work for some reason. I am really puzzled. I never had a problem with a game with its audio system. It has always been the graphic problems. But if there is anyone else that know what to do, it would be greatly appreciated. Dark Phoenix Clan Site

jimmyreb
Have you tried updating your audio driver? yes, i've tried updating and rolling bak. You can go to your task manager and close the BF2VoiceSetup[Caution: Executable File] process, the installation should proceed normally after this. Only problem is that once you finish installing VOIP doesn't work.
JoeDaStudd
I had the same thing with BF2142. Crashed every single time I played it at random times.I emailed EA and send numerous support requests and could never fix the issue.
