suliman
hi, i messaged many of u about pixel sig making and i just thought that posting a topic would give me more responses. YES, i read the tutorials on this site but i'm still confused :? The most tourble i'm having is trying to start is it true that most of u only use ms paint, just normal ms pain? do u draw the sig then scan it and shade on the computer or do u directly start on the computer? how long does it take a day or a week? I'M WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE PIXEL SIGS, it took me like 5 days to learn how to make normal abstract or grundge sigs because there were many tutorials on them but for pixel sigs the only tutorials are on this site (which by the way i read). I need to know the steps to making a pixel sig, from what program to open, to close the program. i'm not that rich so for now i'm giving a small donation and when i do get rich (which i will) i will return the favor (trust me). But making money isn't the only reason that i want to learn how to make a pixel sig. i, like many others find pixel sigs unique and wonderfull. u might ask why take the time to teach a noob about pixel sigs when i can be making money desinging a new one. well i can take the heat off of u, by running ur shop (which many of u have and if u don't i'm sure we can think of something) for no pay. it would be best to pm me the information, because i'm sure none of u want to spread ur ideas by just posting them in front of other pixel sig users. kinkydave
yea i use ms paint. and i do all of it on the computer no scanning or anything. my only advise is to start with stick figures then muscels then armor robes ect. use grey for the stick figure and muscel and black for the finished line art. sorry not to good at explaining things but i hope that helped :? example of my work below

terley
well in ms paint you can draw something on paper, scan it in, transfer it onto paint and start tracing over it as a plan to your sig. If you can't be bothered doing that just sketch out on paint as you would on paper, use a light grey to make a basic structure (characters with stick figures), then built it up until your happy to decide on a stronger outline. Rub out the mess and your left with linework (which should be black), from then just edit your character to however you want him, edit your work accordingly until your happy that you want it to be coloured, choose your colours then eventually shade it. If you want you can change your black outlines to coloured. It's all up to you what you come up with, the only thing you can learn is techniques from advice and critisism. I know its a rubbish character, just an illustration of what I meant. The same technique applies for the whole sig (background aswell as characters), look at my before and afters. Used a scanned in sketch for tha. see nothing detailed at all.. used the ms paint method... sorta just planned it out, did the linework and worked on it section by section. 3 steps to a simple character. Latest one, still using my same old technique 8) . It's honestly up to you how you wanna make a pixel sig, just figure out what you like to do and stick at it, don't do it if it's not fun :) . And certainly don't try to mimic anyone else's style, find your own and develop it. hope that shed some light on your situation. ~Ter

You do not need to be so rude, some people are very slow at learning and just need a huge helping hand as Terley has just provided (hell it even helped me a little). You need to take a step back and realize, you're not the greatest Paw; you're far from it. He's probably just very confused on wear to start and is simply amazed by the fact that some people can get such amazing results using such a low grade program. As for advice, sorry I never replied I've had a busy couple of days and I was hoping to get back to you. The advice Terley gave you is the best anyone could give. Though as for me.... I can't start a sig unless I have a very clear idea and how I want it to end up. A lot of the time I'll throw doodles down on paper as a type of roadmap and just look off of those and transfer them on the computer. Nothing more to really say, don't ask me about shading lol. I've been doing this for a while and I still struggle so that's nothing I can help you with. But if you need help with shading you might wanna try http://www.spriteart.com it gives tips on manual anti-aliasing and lighting. It helps a lot. Nothing more I can really do to help, except keep practicing and make it fun for yourself. Do stuff you like.

I didn't mean it like that, I juts meant that if he had looked at so many tutorials etc as he said he has and still doesn't get it there is a high chance that he isn't going to get it. but of course there is a chance he will. And I never said I was the best, I mean I have only done the one pixel sig so far and that has some weird bit as it was experimenting etc and it doesn't even show up because my web server crashed. I don;t think anywhere in my post did i say I was the best. I belive I juts said, even if it was slihgtly incorrectly said, that he is unlikely to get it if he doesn't yet and gave advice on whihc drawing methods can be used. I personally cannot comment on paint as I have never used it as I have always had Paint Shop Pro Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
APERSON
Nice explanation there Terley. You should make a tutorial, I bet you it would get stickied. You are one of the best pixelers I've seen on these forums. I'm sure a lot of people could benefit from your experience and you seem to genuinely like to help anyways :) Seems a natural step :D Why should we buy postage stamps when we can make our own?aperson being
