Investment Banking...

Featured Replies

I recieved an email a few days ago from Ucas Media (the site responsible for getting use into the right Universities) and i've been given the opportunity to go to London and attend a huge event with the world biggest Investment Banks attending looking for fresh meat in the coming years.

The reason i have this opportunity is because i am registered to have a disability and the large investment banks are looking to give the less-fortunate a greater lease on life... However, in order to be in with a shout, i need to answer this question;

"Please use this section to explain what motivates you towards a career in Investment Banking/Financial Services. You can also use this section to give examples, if appropriate, from any aspect of your life of things that you have done that demonstrate your enthusiasm for a career in this sector. You may use examples from university, school, social activities and voluntary work, as well as paid employment.As supporting evidence, please use this section to detail what strengths you think you would bring to a career in Investment Banking/Financial Services and what you think you would gain from it."

I know how investment banks work, however im just having difficulty grapsing how to actually go about writing the report... Its a 250 word limit and im stuck on the first hurdle... I mean, i've had little/no experience of actually operating as an investment banker and i dont think anyone in their first year of uni would have...

Can anyone help me out? Its kind of a bleak explanation but im stuffed and i really dont want to miss out on this opportunity because im failing to interpret the question correctly.

I excel in management and the management of people, however from what i know/have researched, theres little to use that to my advantage as investment banking is all about buying, selling and trading of securities, bonds etc... If anyone knows how i could possibly use my experience of managing as an 'in' that would be a great help.

Thanks alot in advance :D

Firstly, make bullet points of the skills you have that apply to being successful in investment banking. Then, write a small paragraph about each, saying why you think that skill applies to investment banking. For example, working well as part of a team etc.

Then you can form it around that.

^^ I agree with above :D ^^

That should just about cover it ;P
