I currently have Zanik's crossbow and I like it a lot for pvp type stuff. I see a lot of people with canons but I don't really know much about them. Are they better than Zanik's and worth getting?

my personal opinion is they are worth it even though they have a chance to be "destroyed" at lower fm lvls but even at 76 i've yet to lose one because of my fm lvl and on top of that they hit extremely hard but i also dont often use zanik's bow so i may be wrong.

Seriously though, the zanik cbow is worse than the rune cbow, so unless you are just using it to spec people, I don't think is a great idea. The hand cannon is better than the zanik's crossbow I believe, it has +90 range and the ammo gives +150 range strength. It is however two handed and godsword speed, the catch is that there is a chance that it will randomly explode when you fire it, the chance is scaled indirectly with your firemaking skill. So I thought is a cool weapon, but not very reliable, expensive too. So if you really want to use zanik, I would suggest you use that unless you are willing to burn some cash.

 

Oh and the special attack of the hand cannon basically greatly increase the accuracy but also the chance for it to explode. I don't think I have seen a missed special yet, and apparently there was(is?) a bug that allows you to fire 2 shots at the same time but using the special and then clicking the target at the same time when you fire and two shots will come out. Dunno if is intentional or not.

 

Conclusion:Go with zanik unless you got cash, but really though why aren't you using rune cbow? :blink:

zaniks is good, but the cannon is better (apart from when it blows up in your face lol) although it is slow, its almost a range alternative for the godsword! Im not sure on the max hits though, so if someone could fill me in on a DPM for both the weps, it would be quite good :D

Grom I'm not using Zanik's as a base weapon...no one does lol. It's a spec weapon then I go back to rune.

Well I think of the hand cannon's special like the dragon claw one, is very accurate but unlike the claws, the hits are not very reliable and the thing might explode. :blink:

 

So use the cannon only if you are willing to spend some cash once in awhile.

It's very good when I use void with it, but for some reason whenever I switch over to d'hide or arma it seems to not hit very often (99 Range too btw)
