Ethernet Wifi combining

Featured Replies

I know I asked something like this before.

But anyway my laptop is connect to the net via ethernet, but also has wifi.

Is there some way I can bridge these 2 connections so that the internet connection can be passed onto the wifi for other devices to pick up?

If so how?

By using a router? Or am I misunderstanding the question?

You're missing the question.

Setup is:

Ethernet wall port > Laptop Ethernet port.

Laptop also has wifi, my phone can use wifi.

I want to forward it so tht:

laptop ethernet port > laptop wifi > phone wifi

I heard something about being able to bridge them and share the internet

Why not just buy a router and

Ethernet wall port > Wireless router > Laptop Ethernet port / Wireless Phone.

I'm not sure if you can bridge a wireless connection or not, I know you can do wired though. A router is pretty much what you want though.

Yes this is possible, assuming you're running Windows, go into your network adaptors and select the wireless + wired, right click on one and bridge connections. That's what I use to get my 360 online (Router -> Wireless Card -> Ethernet -> Xbox). So it should work the other way around.

Are you sure the phone connects to a wireless hotspot or is it via bluetooth like some?

Here are instructions on how to create an ad hoc network.

I do not believe you can connect a phone to an ad hoc network without modding the phone.
