Most of it's extra features aren't worth it to most people. Premium does everything that a normal person wants it to.

Unless you need to connect to a domain or use multiple languages, just get Home Premium. You could use the money you save and go buy other software, hardware for your computer, or a nice cold beverage.

Yes, you can upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate from any version of XP or Vista, or any other version of 7, but, as already mentioned, there are very few reasons to go beyond Home Premium an most of them can be duplicated with low-cost, and even free, third-party software. An excellent compairason of all the major version can be found here.
