Buffing the max hit of Magic

I did some thinking on how to update the max hit of magic, and I think this simple, yet good suggestion should give the mage enough KO ability, while not overpowering their spells too much.

 

I would leave the spells and their effects the way they are, but I would however, add these 2 spells/buffs. They would work on both the normal, and the ancient spellbook.

 

Level 75: Battle Cry: You charge your staff or wand with power and all offensive magic spells do 10% more damage. Effect disappears if you replace your wand or staff with a melee weapon, or a bow/c-bow. Lasts for 5 minutes.

 

Level 90: Ancient's Favour: You charge your staff or wand with power and all offensive magic spells do 20% more damage. Effect disappears if you replace your wand or staff with a melee weapon, or a bow/c-bow. Lasts for 5 minutes.

 

* Battle Cry and Ancient's Favour do not stack with each other, and neither do they with an extreme magic potion.

This is the best balance I could think of. The reason why you must be wielding your staff or wand, is so that rushers won't get a benefit from this.

 

Let's say you're wielding a master wand, and have charged yourself with Ancient's Favour, you would get a 30% boost. Your new max hit with Ice Barrage would be 39.

 

"But 39 is still no KO power!"

 

Relax, I'm not done explaining yet. Aight, well, most people are by now aware that Ice Barrage can be combined with Shadow/Blood Barrage. Blood Barrage new max hit would be 38. So if you stack these 2 spells on each other, you can hit a grand total of 77. This is equal to the max hit of an AGS special attack. Now, I am aware that using combo spells doesn't require any special attack energy, but think with me. The chances of hitting the max of both spells at the same time, is extremely rare. You would hit an average of around 39-45, and every now and then a 50+. This sounds balanced to me, considering the average AGS special is around 40-50. Some may think 39 is still too low, but we have to take in fact that magic spells are way more accurate than melee is.

Also, I think +70% in PvM might be a bit strong... 51s with Ice Barrage, anyone?

 

+70% boost? What are you talking about? The max boost you can have is 50%, and that is if you drink an extreme magic potion, and are wielding a Master Wand/Ancient Staff/Ahrim Staff etc... Battle Cry and Ancient's Favour do not stack with an exteme magic potion, which is also written in my suggestion.

Remember that the Ancients combo is, as you said, not a special attack.

 

So unless you start doing it before combat, you still need to take 2 rounds of combat to use it. This means that the Ancients combo isn't so much of as KO tool (as a finishing blow), but as a PJing tool or a opening hit.

There has already been a debate about combo spells in Warrior5024 his guide and I don't really feel like bringing it up all again.

 

What books are these spells in? the second looks like ancients but the first?

So it works on both the regular spellbook and the ancient spellbook. I don't see a reason why it should work on the lunar spellbook aswell, because it doesn't have any combat spells.

Thanks, it would work on both the regular spellbook, and the ancient spellbook. And sure, I don't see a reason why not to add it to F2P aswell. a 20% boost would make the new max hit of Magic 19, which is still a bit on the low side, hey, it's better than nothing.

I don't really think it should be F2P. They should get the wave spells to improve their max hit imo.

 

As for the suggestion, sure why not.

What I would like to know is whether you guys think this is overpowered or not. :D

Hmm... not really.

 

Melee and Range has max hits far above those, not to mention they have faster weapon attack speeds.

 

Then again, Ice spells freeze.
