November 5, 200916 yr I - In a Far Away LandDuration: 2'09" The prelude that opens the cycle is based on a mother telling a bedtime story to her children to send them to sleep. The hour is 9:00pm, and the writing is reminiscent of harp playing. The prelude is a fitting opening to the set as it signals the beginning of a fairy tale. The piece opens with a deep groan from the town bell, which will toll twelve times in the piece. In between the bell tolls, an agitated and frantic idea can be heard, representing the patrol of the night watchman who guards the streets while the townsmen sleep. The piece begins with a gentle trickle of sunlight, and then plunges into darkness, as the colours and textures begin to blur. What takes you 10 minutes to listen to took me weeks and weeks to write so every word you muster up to post is magnified and means more to me than you can imagine. My personal favourite is Dusk Descending. November 6, 200916 yr I didn't like The Night Watchman. It just felt like a bunch of random, unresolved melodies. The bell tolling was a very neat idea, but I don't think it was executed well. The others were nice though, however the only one that really caught my attention was In a Far Away Land. I love instrumental piano music though, and I would love to hear some of your other work :D Also, while I was listening I couldn't help but think a lot of this was influenced by Koji Kondo, more specifically his work in the Zelda games. Am I wrong? :P
November 6, 200916 yr I enjoyed 'In A Far Away Land' the most- although I am a sucker for glissandos All of them were excellently composed, but when I was listening I tried picturing the scenes you described for each piece, and I found 'The Night Watchman' and 'The Closure Of The Cosmic Rift' scenes to be unfitting. Overall it's an excellent piece of art, I hope you continue to compose and share your work with us :D [If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.]
