This is the first four minutes of my new orchestral work, "Lifequest", written as I was trying to get out of a crippling creative block. Extremely emotional, self-indulgent and personal. The remaining fourteen minutes of the piece are still under construction!

I so rarely post here but maybe I should start posting more because I'm truly impressed. This community is really intelligent and they don't bite each others' heads off. All your points are noted and I'll stress one thing: that the video isn't meant to prove which game version is better. It's only meant to show that RS3 can learn a lot of 07. As for the retro debate, hmm.... Is it really a passing phase? I thought Runescape was already behind other MMO's in graphics, sound and content back in 2007 too. Yet it still managed to become wildly successful because of that retro feel. If retro is a phase, it's been a phase for at least the past decade.

Quick Sequence of Events: This victory is not a claim on the cluster, but the fight that preceded the crash. We don't fight when crashed, especially when half of the crashers are in rags. The only clan I can offer respect to is AF for volunteering to AC. Very classy. Actually I'm sort of glad I get a different reaction from Tip.it than RSC. On RSC they are completely in agreement with this image of the clan world. To come on Tip.it and hear so much optimism about morality is really a breath of fresh air.

What I'm talking about is the old rules that stood in the way of winning. It's not a doom story, but let's all agree that the clan world is always changing. What I believe is that at some stage, the changes to the clan world are going to taper off. Why? Because all the dominoes will have fallen. The dominoes are the old codes of honour and/or respect written by the old school clans. One by one, they have been knocked down, for better or for worse. I like to use this analogy because the destruction of one eads to the destruction of another, and once they fall they do not come back... unless Jagex intervenes. Admittedly, I am glad some are gone, but I miss some others. What I ask of you is simply, what do you miss and what are to glad to be rid of? I've written a list of old laws that have fallen, and it is not definitive. Please help me add to it if you can remember one. So. To miss or not to miss? FALLEN DOMINOES what we've lost... Object Hugging Non-returning (and the Edgeville greeting) Dragging Spying Account Sharing Welfare Gear In-Game Flaming Single/Safe Hugging FALLING DOMINOES what we're losing... Crashing Multiclanning Hacking STANDING DOMINOES what remains... Terms of War This is the last standing domino. ___________________________________________________ The tl;dr summary As clans get more and more keen to take the number one rank, they will knock down more dominoes to get there. The pattern is obvious. The minor rules were the first to go. The bigger the issue, the longer it takes. So my questions to you are simply as follows: What are you glad to be rid of in the clan world? What do you wish had never fallen? Will there be a day when all the dominoes/codes of respect fall? As a final respectful reminder, this is not a doom prophecy topic. Don't focus on the negatives. The clan world has matured in ways and declined in others. If we don't come out even and/or better, then we would shrink and lose numbers... oh wait... oops.

Two weeks ago, I approached the Gladiatorz for a p2p war, realising they are an f2p clan. The reason I asked them was because they were one of the few clans older than WG. I was looking for a very very unique fight with old school p2p rules. General Rules: No returning, single spells only Equipment HEAVILY restricted to what's below. Infinite run allowed. NEW WAR ZONE: For the first time in RSC Clan history, a war has been held at the STRONGHOLD OF PLAYER SAFETY! Equipment Rules: No dragon armour except boots and d med Mages only in mystic and splitbark Dragon scim, mace, long, dds, baxe and maul as the only weapons Team capes and god capes only. No Neitiznot helms or familiars... Basically, 2005 gear. I continue to look up to them as one of the great honour clans of Runescape. To have finally fought them after knowing of them for years is a humbling thought. To all members of Gladz, you did your clan proud and should feel happy to have been part of such a unique experience. I just want to bring some clans together, since we're not as unified as we used to be. This is a great opportunity for many clans to mingle. What's Happening? My clan is hosting a trivia contest this Friday night. Clans of any size form teams to answer questions that my bot will ask live in the WG IRC (in #wg_lobby, Server: irc.SwiftIRC.net) Simply type the correct answer into the IRC channel to earn points. The fastest answer gets the point - this stops people from Googling the answers. There is only one round of 50 questions and will take approximately half an hour. What's the Prize? The winning individual will receive a 30-day subscription card of Runescape membership. The code will be sent to them via PM. The most creative answer (that isn't necessarily correct) gets two 76k's from me. This isn't much, but it's about having fun. It's not all about the prizes. When is it? Hey mate, you have the two most important things already. 1. Determination and strong values 2. Something unique to offer the clan world. Some people will look down on your cause, but never give up. It's very hard to make a successful clan these days. For a clan like yours, I'd allow multiclanning if I were you. There'd be a lot of people interested in your idea but if you only allow them to be in your clan, they won't join because they are already committed to their own clan. That should be a big selling point for you... that they can be part of your cause without betraying their own clan.

To Dangerous Business I wanted to say this before anything else, as this is the most important point of this topic. I want to celebrate a very unique clan that does p2p and f2p equally well, and that fights with honour. You have shown only utmost skill and nobility in battle, and I thank you for this war. To all clans, I highly commend DB as a foe in battle. It is very difficult to get p2p non-returning wars, but DB put themselves to the challenge and did exceptionally well. Thank you very much for posting this. I'm quite flattered you decided to copy it. The reason I didn't post this on Tip.it, is because in general I think the Tip.it people already know what I had to say. As a general rule, you're more respectful and I took it for granted that you had this basic code of honour. RSC on the other hand, is a mess. EDIT: Also massive respect to the topic maker for actually following through with the post in his own clan. It makes all the difference and the change happens one clan at a time until it becomes commonplace.

Dandaman619 made a topic asking HOW you would bring people out of retirement. This topic is of similar style. I'm asking... Which clan world legends would you bring out of retirement? Doesn't have to be from your clan. Please post some reasons as well so there's discussion value in the topic. ________________________ Franzk would be my number one choice, because the clan world needs someone that intelligent. Goku Nazz (Nathan) and Kenshln are also right up there, out of my personal respect for them. Nazz makes the clan world more spicy. He was born to shake things up. Kenshln is just a great tactician and inspiring leader in the wilderness.

Hey Rob, long time no see. And I see a few other familiar faces... did I read correctly and see the Unbreakables leader post? I don't remember your name I'm afraid, but I remember the war I fought you in. What a legendary clan. I'm looking at this topic and seeing a lot of the big names in RS history weigh in. I want to add my opinion to the mix. 1. You can't rob the Sabres of their place as the oldest clan just because they went community for a while. Who cares if they weren't always at the top of the ranking. That is not the only measure of success. They have some of the happiest members I've ever seen. I'd know, I'm allied to them. 2. Why does it matter if RSD or WG closed for a short amount of time? When they reopened they had pretty much the same members and flair. They took a break, but they didn't end their tradition. If they had new policies, members, and history, fair enough, but they picked up where they left off. And in WG's case, the closure was only a day. 3. At the end of the day, it comes down to testosterone. Men want to think they are the biggest and best, and part of that comes from bragging rights related to age. "I was clanning before you could multiply". Respect to you for being part of the clan world for a long time, but live in the present. Time served is not the most accurate way to tell what sort of clanner you are. 4. On a related note, I congratulate anyone that is around since 2006. To have endured what I think is a downward slide for PVP clans is a testament to your endurance, and that should not be taken lightly. We went through rough times, even the top clans. You survived mass leavings and chaos. Well done to you good sirs.
