saywuuuut
I've been trying hard, but I still don't see how people are doing it. How do they manage to sell items for millions and millions more than the GE price? I see lots add "junk", but that junk has to equal millions. Yesterday someone said they sold an easter egg for 300m, while the GE max is 30m. How on earth would they be able to add 270M of junk to a trade? And then I heard somebody saying something about loaning him an item for the rest? Don't get it. Can somebody help me out here?
Slayer_Jesse
junk is unsellable items that have a ge value much higher then their actual value. schmuall
You've answered your own question. They do indeed add 270m of junk to the trade. Basically, when training some skills (say fletching) you make certain products that nobody wants to buy (say unstrung willow longbows). The GE gives these items a value but because nobody wants them, they are realistically worthless - Junk. Now lets say you've been training this skill and have made thousands of these junk items which have a GE worth of 100s of thousands or even millions but a realistic price of 0 because nobody wants to buy them, you also have a rare item (say an easter) that people are willing to pay a lot more than the GE price for because of it's rarity. So in a trade with that person you offer the easter and all your junk to bring up the price and get a lot more coins. The item lending thing you mentioned is another aspect of trading that involves junk. If you have a highly sort after item (claws/godswords) that you want to lend out there is a maximum cap you are meant to be able to charge set via trade limits. If you want to charge more than this amount, you will have to add junk to the trade to allow the other person to give you more money. So each item have a "lent item" value as well. I assume that by lending the item, the buyer was effectively giving the seller an opportunity to use if that he would otherwise have had to pay for. Mmangler
Thanks for asking the question and those who responded. I never understood how it worked either. However, say you have a 1,000 unstrung oak bows worth essentially nothing. Can't you just sell them at the store for something other than zero but at much less than the GE price? Or is the point to just get the GE price to "balance" the trade?

Or is the point to just get the GE price to "balance" the trade? You certainly could sell them to the general store but, like you said, you'll get a far reduced price for them. Using them as junk for trading valuable items lets you get much more out of them.
Cptbaker08
Another item are the arrows you get from ZGW. 1 drop can get you 400k+ in junk. I have some just sitting in my bank. As of now, i hear eye of newts are considered to be junk items since they introduced the Packs of them at stores. saywuuuut
Hmm, that's interesting. So right now if I have an easter, GE around 30M, but market price in the hundreds of millions, I would probably be better of selling for around max GE price rather than raising hundreds of millions of GP worth in junk, wouldn't I?
