I like your gallery. I'm looking for a few tips, did you draw the girl in the purple one? (8th from the top)

and also, jw how you did the 3-d shard shapes. I'm talking about

this

102qgeh.jpg

I like a lot of these, particularly the 8th and 9th down, and the one at the top.

edit:

i answered my own question. i just learned about renders. i'm guessing thats what that is?

No that is a render, obtained from a website, such as PlanetRenders.

The 3D shapes are also from a website, such as PlanetRenders. They are called C4Ds.

And Milk... I personally think these are awful and I can't tell a defined first and defined recent... but dont let that deter you... Look at more tutorials, Gimp I am assuming...http://pat-61.deviantart.com/favourites/#Tremendous-Tutorials

Hell yeah I do. Whats your msn?

That's how it all starts.

Next he's going to ask you what flavor of candy you enjoy and whats your favorite color van.

I really like the colors in the Dragonball Z one and the depth in the bass guitar one.

Don't be an arse pat, he's new.

One thing I have noticed is that they are fairly all the same style and C4Ds, and your effects run over your focal. Keep practicing, you are getting better.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Fair enough, but it's good to have variation in your work.

How was I an "arse"... And he isn't new, he has been here atleast 4 months... I love how [someone] can make posts like that and everyone is like "Oh yeah I agree with [Person]" and when I say it, I get "Don't be such and arse."

Guys, be cool.

They are all pretty much identical, with no major improvement over the course of them. One thing to take off, definitely is the text. It kills any chance these tags have. You need to remember the 6 things when it comes to tag making:

Flow - how a signature flows and the direction it goes in. Makes the tag easier to look at on the eyes.

Lighting - How is the lighting on the render? Is it harsh, subtle, gleaming or glinting? You need to adjust your lighting to accommodate for the renders lighting. Use a large, soft, white brush, put onto overlay at around 70% opacity.

Depth - You do not want your tags to look flat and dull. Add some depth into it, it will make it more interesting. There are several ways you can do this like blurring the background and sharpening the foreground (the focal most likely) or making the foregrounds colors more saturated and the backgrounds less saturated. Your eye is naturally drawn to brighter areas or something sharp opposed to blurred. Be careful not to overdo it; subtlety is the key.

Color - A tags colours can make or break it. You want a nice color scheme, pleasing to the eye, not some god-awful clashing one.

Effects - Same with the effects. Effects are pretty much what make your tag visually interesting - they can be done in a myriad of ways. C4Ds and smudging are 2 well known ones. No doubt you know of those. Use effects sparingly. Too much distracts the eye.

Composition - THIS IS THE BIG ONE. This is about how all those things I mentioned before are arranged. The simplest illusion to use when composing a tag to make it more interesting is the rule of thirds. Divide the canvas up into 3 equal columns up and accross.

Tick those boxes and you are well on your way to making tags. Keep looking at tutorials as well - some good ones can be found on www.deviantart.com.

And with the rule of thirds, you want your focal/main 'effects', at these four points:

ruleofthirds.jpg

I'll take one of Julius's sigs for example (hope you don't mind!):

1zvtqpk.png

You see how the render is on two of the points (green), while there are some balancing effects on the other points (yellow). You don't need to draw out a whole grid when making a sig though, it's fairly easy just to do it by eye.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.
