Tesset
I have a couple of pairs of speakers in my computer room. However, the crappy pair is hooked up to my computer, and the good pair is hooked up to the radio that is never used. So, I would like to transfer the good pair over to my computer, however, it doesn't have the same style of jack as my computer. The computer has the regular kind for computers, the speakers just have loose wire. I don't know how to explain it so, I took a couple of pictures with my crappy camera: [hide=It's the best I could do, sorry.][/hide] The question is, could I hook the good speakers to my computer? Thanks for any help I can get. My skin is finally getting softI'll scrub until the damn thing comes off
Sk8erfreak
You will need to run them through some sort of amp or receiver that has auxiliary or RCA jacks (so you can plug the computer into it) and regular speaker wire feeds to plug the speaker wires into. Pretty much every modern home stereo receiver has this capability.. but a new receiver will be pretty expensive. If the Radio that your speakers are plugged into now has an Auxiliary jack (looks like a headphone jack but receives sound to play on the speakers instead of transmitting sound to headphones) you could use that and just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. 136 Combat, 2290+ Skill Total
Tesset
So, how much are we talking for the amp/reciever? Would it be cheaper just to get a pair of nice headphones? And my radio doesn't have an auxiliary cable. My skin is finally getting softI'll scrub until the damn thing comes off
Foooman
What do you mean regular computer connectors? I'm guessing it is one TRS connector that you just plug into the back of your PC. If you have a little bit of soldering skill you could just solder the wires into the connectors and plug the speakers in. Just hope that your computer outputs enough power for the speakers to get decent volume. The tip is Left, the ring is right, and the sleeve is a shared ground most of the time. 3.5mm Stereo Male TRS ConnectorsMouser (US) or RS Components (UK)
Tesset
If the Radio that your speakers are plugged into now has an Auxiliary jack (looks like a headphone jack but receives sound to play on the speakers instead of transmitting sound to headphones) you could use that and just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. This ended up working, after investigating the radio a little more. The only problem is that whatever I play gets feedback from whatever's playing without sound running(radio, cd, etc.) I can deal with it, but might there be a way to get rid of that? Futurama
What kind of feedback? Is it a fuzz, or a hiss, etc?You may need to earth your system...
Tesset
It plays whatever is playing through the radio at the time, i.e. music, very softly in the background. It's nothing wrong with the computer, I'm just wondering if there's a way to get rid of it.
