I just had a few questions about this...

1) Is there a designated world where people typically mine here? slash will more people here significantly decrease exp rates?

2) What kind of exp/hr can I get here mining

3) At 82 mining, should I go for the concentrated coal or gold deposites?

 

any other advice concerning this would be much appreciated!

This is one area where being with more people is helpful. It has no impact on your XP rates, and more players means less chance of being picked on by the monsters. I go to World 2 for this, there is also a special designated world for it.

 

I would go straight for gold -- 35-40 kXP/hr is possible.

I'm pretty sure the more people the better actually. I'm not sure if this is true, but I think someone told me that the deposits last longer when there's more people mining them. I think I may have noticed that myself too when I was w84 (a good world to go to for the caverns). It may have been my imagination though, I have no proof!

I'd mine on world 2 or find some other world with a lot of people, only because it decreases the chances you'll be attacked. I've mined on w2 and other random worlds and didn't really notice a big difference in how long a rock lasted or took to respawn. I'd also mine gold, it's better xp and money per hour.

The most commonly used world is 84. Also, you can check the Mining Golds clan chat -- sometimes they're on different worlds, but it has the same effect.
