Experienced Fletchers Help!

I really like fletching and I have decided to 99 it over the Christmas holidays.

 

But I have 1 problem - am I going to buy unstrung bows and bow strings, make the bows, just to not be able to sell the finished product?

 

So far, I am getting to 70 fletching using yew shorts. I can buy the unstrung bow and the string for max and sell the bow for lowest and still profit, and they seem to sell ok.

 

But I am wondering.... What about Yew long bows? Magic shorts? Magic longs? Maybe crossbows are the best way to go?

 

I'm not sure, need help :wall:

I'm not sure about the short bows, but yew longbows will just about always sell, they are a popular alching item. So are magic longbows but those might take a little longer to sell.

If you have money and money is not of an issue then do bolts to 99, I've heard you can get around 500k xp/hr but you run the risk of Carpel Tunnel. If you don't have money (or don't want carpel tunnel) then I'd suggest that you but the supplies, cut the logs, string them and then sell them.

You don't need 80. You can boost it using a Stew or the Fletching potion. I only 77 fletching and i have the EE to use. The stew can give a max boost of 6 and the potion gives 3. But the boost of 6 is vary rare and would better off getting a few lelvs and try for a +4 boost or just use the potion.

OK I made magic longs (u) with SC knives. They sold, I didn't string them.

Just did some number crunching, Yew longs and mage shorts & longs both lose about 30gp/bow made, so if I went for 99 fletch I would lose money.

 

In my current welfare situation that wouldn't be good, so I guess my goal of 99 fletching will need to wait :(

Using this method you will lose less than 1mil getting to 99,

 

It took me 2 weeks using this method on schooldays so i strongly suggest you use it !

Stringing Yew Longbows makes 44 GP a bow and is faster then cutting and stringing. Slower then stringing magic longs but you make money. Magic longs are only 10gp per bow loss to string so you might be able to save enough time to earn the money you lose.

so in conclusion just do UNSTRUNG bows till you can do yews then just cut and string yews to 99 =)

Even better is the fletching potion, it gives a +3 boost everytime so no need to deal with the randomness of the stew.
