King2004
Hey guys, Wouldn't it be cool to be able to examine other people? I often examine stuff when Im bored but after some time I had everything so then I start chatting about nothing :P But it would be quite cool to add a discription about yourself on runescape, so when people examine you they see a certain text.. Its like an MSN name or a signature on the forums. Cyah King 2004
Atresica
Now that would be a wonderful idea. Only I fear I'd spend all my runescape time examining people :x
Barihawk
It could be abused though, and Jagex does not want us giving contact details over Runescape. Note how MSN is censored. However, if it examined you on skills, that would be cool . My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. sligo
I have always supported this idea. The fun part of this idea is stating here what you'd have as your examine text. I'd have: "I'm not bald, my hair is clear" or "There goes a really cool, altogther guy. He knows where his towel is." - Sligo I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant. I_Torbane_I
And perhaps it could also be set by Jagex to say if someone is a scammer? It would make life alot easier...
sligo
And perhaps it could also be set by Jagex to say if someone is a scammer? It would make life alot easier... sligo
I know what you mean. What I mean is the people who put that in there voluntarily. Barihawk
If you have a blackmark for scamming, the examine might say "this person may not be trustworthy". sligo
If you have a blackmark for scamming, the examine might say "this person may not be trustworthy". Uh, wouldn't that be appropriate for everyone, including player mods? - Sligo I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant. rft
yeah i posted a thread about this a few months ago. I think it is a great idea. A few suggestions could be "xxxx+ skill total" " xx KQ kills" " A muppet" (mine) the problem with this idea is that there would be an extra line for every person, and in crowded areas (such as banks), trading would be made that much harder. Best Barrows Chest: guth skirt, dh helm, dh axe, racks, gp (23/08/06); best tt reward: robin, guthix helm, guthix legs, nats, rune legs
King2004
Yeh but I wont mind to accept that when we can examine people :) BTW Im sorry I forgot to look up this idea in history, so sorry Mods this may be the second (or even more) version of this idea.. Next time I will do some research first :D BTW my examination: "Use Sangria on me to have fun"

Its a discussion thread, and we are discussing. Not everyone scams, not everyone is guilt free of attempting to scam. I didn't say that everyone is a scammer. I'm saying that everyone should be careful about who they trade with and should always be on guard. Sorry for drifting off topic a bit. I understand the distinction of Jagex putting some kind of indicator on a character who has been "convicted" of being a scammer, but that can backfire big-time because people accuse others of scamming when in fact there was no scam at all. Anyway, I like the idea of putting an examine option on players, and allowing players to specify their own examine text (barring censor approval, of course). I've seen it suggested many many many times. The idea isn't original, but I think popular enough that I'll bet we'll eventually see it happen unless Jagex has a philosophical reason for not doing it that we aren't aware of. - Sligo I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant. Junkieman
i think an examine would be good, a bit like a personal message you can change when you like, of course jagex are gonna need to regulate it. At first i thought it'd take up lots of space as well, but say its limited to 100 characters(as in letters, digits, etc) each, it may well add up to alot of space. Maybe it should only be done for members, so people can see who are members as well, or maybe they should do away with farming and use the space for this. and give ppl player houses, even tho i dont really want one. meh, ive gone off topic. Moglin85
im not some one who is known to talk alot, so ill say this..... This is quite a good idea and i would support this all the way (even if it didnt go anywhere) :D

Hehe its not that bad to go off topic ;) but you are right, why would it be possible to add a skill like farming which most people dislike where an idea like this would be impossible... Im sure space wont be the problem, and as you say there will be a limit on the examine-info (so people dont write books on it :P) I think the limit can be easy to set, no longer than 1 line of text, thats the limit on normal objects too right? It wouldn't even be cool to have a long text, people wont read it anyhow then ;) Cyah King 2004
archimage_a
Maybe, I still prefer the idea of a house with a sign post. 'If you were me and I were you then I'd be you and your be me, Do you see?' Or other random comments 'In the frozen land of Nador they were forced to eat Robin's minstrels. And there was much rejoicing. ' 'Life. Dont talk to me about life, You might never leave' 'I didn't know that it said poison' 'If I'm running don't follow me' 'I am the nooberlater googleplex, I will exterminate you' 'If I had a nickel for every time that had happened, I'd move to the USA' 'I take whisky drink, I take a vodka drink, I drink a lager :?: drink, I drink a cider drink. And when I need to pee I use the kitchen sink' And any number of other comments I suggest people say what they would say instead of argueing cos its more fun http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Unfortunately i think it would be abused. But think you could write like 'Selling Guthix Skirt' and just walk round and maybe get a few bites on the sale! Doomster
Would be great to have some way of indicating if you are a trading smith or crafter - eg. "Mithril squares made to order".
