horseathlete
So I was browing the RSOF and noticed that the pirate hook I earned runs for 20-30M, rather than the 2.2M on the GE. I was absent from the game for a number of months, so I'm not really familiar with this whole "junk trading" concept. From what I understand, if I wanted to sell my hook for the extra 18M, I would need to gather 18M worth of junk? But wouldn't I be having the same net profit? I don't really own any junk in my bank, so I'd have to make it or buy it, but then that wouldn't that time/money cancel out the extra money I sell the hook for? I'm just trying to understand where the profit is. Any help/advice is appreciated.
Sir_Squab
Well, some people end up with junk from GW. Ever gotten the super poisoned adamant arrows from Zamorak Godwars? Yeah. Or fletching, perhaps training fletching with mage longs or something. Other people just buy or make junk; if one could make, say, 1m or more worth of junk in an hour...More importantly, be able to make junk faster then money; you can make max say 500k an hour, but you can make 1mil worth of junk every hour. Or something. And other people just accumulate junk when they're trying to buy items like the pirate hook. I've personally sold addy p++ arrows that I got from Zamorak Godwars more then once. And, some people forget that if you buy junk, or make a point of geting junk, your really not making that much profit. Hope this helps. Squab unleashes Megiddo! ilovecuttingyews
Junk isn't really worth trying to get. It is best to just 'come across it' in your normal 'scaping. LIke said before, if you get addy p++ arrows from GWD, they make good junk. Or if you are training fletching the (u) bows are nice junk. But these are too slow if you are trying to just build up junk. Why bother making 200k worth of junk per hour when you can make 400k an hour doing something else? The best way to get junk is to keep all of your worthless byproducts of skilling until they ammount to something.Other people 'create' junk by buying out an item from the GE making it rise. Then when the item inevitably crashes they use those items at the elevated price as junk. Junk isn't really worth bothering to get for an average runescaper. I would say either hold onto that hook and wait for it to rise in the ge, or sell it to a friend who has a lot of junk they need to get rid of. Then just force them to do favours for you, or buy junk off of you in the future if you ever get any.
horseathlete
Alright, thank you. I was hoping to complete my mask set by using the hook to help me buy a green mask, but it seems getting the junk isn't worth it. I'll just get the hook, wait for it to rise, and train other skills. Over time I'll have both the junk I need and the higher price (though the mask will inevitably rise in price). Thanks all.
