champion
Well here I am with yet another problem. I recently successfully installed Windows 7 to my main computer. Unfortunately, it does not recognize my Belkin USB network adapter - it lists it as an "unknown device." I can right-click on it and troubleshoot, and it tells me to install a driver for the unknown device. If I try that, it then tells me that "Unknown device doesn't have a driver." Thus, I cannot connect to the Internet from that computer. I installed all the updated drivers for the adapter before I installed Windows 7. Any idea of how I can get this to work? Thank you
Sy_Accursed
1) check its windows 7 compatible 2) download the most recent drivers on another pc and copy it across to install Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
champion
Hm. I found a disc that came with the adapter (which I forgot about) to install all the drivers. It installs them fine and everything, but when I plug in the adapter, Windows still doesn't recognize it. Though through some Googling, I've figured out I'm not the only one with this problem; lots of people are having the same issue and there is no apparent fix. I think I'll just have to buy a new adapter. That W7 compatible. Thanks anyway.

Sometimes you can get drivers for the chipset rather than for that specific brand and they will work.

champion
Well, I finally got it fixed - so far at least! I right-clicked on the "unknown device," went through it's properties, sorted through some stuff, and found an option to find the drivers on the computer manually. So I went ahead and did that at it's working fine so far.

Windows hasn't exactly perfected the art of the driver, far from it, but at least it's getting better. Problem is that you only really notice it when it doesn't work. ~ W ~
