fatherdeath
Alright, well since im getting tired of this old heap im on, i've decided into looking for an upgrade. I'm considering buying a new pc, and i need some input. First off, my budget is roughly $1,000 (US). And i intend this computer to be for gaming/other junk that being said.... whats a decent vid. card that i could get for a moderate price, as well that could suppost most games? Also what processor? Also, id like around 1000mb of ram... Any sites would also be helpful if i can find out the hardware that would be best suited..... Lately, ive been checking into ibuypower.com and cyberpowerinc.com anyway, any advice/suggestions will be GREATLY apprectiated!

Guest andyizcool
With you budget you could get the best stuff if you're building a PC yourself. Make sure you get an Athlon since they're the best processors. You could have 2GB of RAM and 400GB+ Hard Drive with your budget. Anything you want and your budget should get it easily. However if you buying a PC they charge more and put rubbish parts in them mainly. Building your own PC will save a lot of money and it's not too hard. Not the best PC but a pretty good home PC if you're willing to put some work into building it. ;) For processors I was thinking along the lines of AMD Athlon 64. For your graphics card you could get one with the best graphics memory (256MB) and I'm not sure on brands here but anything expensive with 256MB is decent. So your conversion skills suck :). You should be able to get a somewhat decent computer with that money, but please state whether you can reuse your current monitor (or want a new one), as well as if you have suitable keyboard, mouse and speakers. This kind of affects the amount of money you can spend on core components :) Edit: as for 'gaming' - what kind of gaming? Like, HL2 / Doom3 / AOE3 at highest quality with full anisoptric filtering? Or just a game of runescape? There's a difference, you know...

Service
newegg.com is your google here. I guess the X800gto2 is the best GFX card you can get. It's basically a x850xt PE with 12 Pipelines. The x800gto2 has a 100% chance to unlock to a x850xt PE, the brand is sapphire. Go get it! It's a really hot item!

My conversion skills don't suck, I just remembered it the wrong way round. Either way I could get a whole new great PC for around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã400 ($710) with some of the best quality stuff. Stuart_G
i'd say get a Amd Athlon 64 processor and 200gb of Hard Disk,1 gb of ram,256mb video card and about a motherboard..just take one from gigabyte i suggest agp8x/ddr 400 of the k8triton series PCI-E is the way to go, as thats the connection theyll be using on most new cards. That, and its better than AGP anyway. But because AGP is an older format, you can get mother boards and video card for a bit cheaper than what youd pay for a PCI-E card an mother board. So if you want to be able to upgrade again in a few years, PCI-E is probably the way to go. If not AGP might be fine until you want to upgrade again, and youll probably need to get a PCI-E board then anyway.
jammy316
board = 150-250~ cpu =250~ amd Or buy a deal on Ebay, Mobo/CPU for less ;). 300 Dollars I'd think, 150 Pounds for it here. And get a Mobo with PCI- E, its the way for gaming (Saves you having to spend even more for awhile).
