Living rock caverns mining Concentrated gold

Hi,

I'm going to get 80-90 (or higher) mining at the living rock caverns (I know I'm not 80 mining right now but that's not the point ;-) ) and I was wondering the next:

1) I have the money to get a dragon pickaxe, though I'm unsure whether it's worth it to get it. A friend of mine says he doesn't notice any difference in speed and he's 99 mining. I haven't tried dragon pickaxe myself but would you guys say there is an enough increase in speed compared to rune pickaxe while mining?

2) I'm just 75 summoning right now but I am able to get 83 so that's not the problem. I always thought the best while mining was an obby titan and that's what I would be using in that cavern. Though the same friend as above says it's better to use a BoB over there to mine more gold per hour. Do you guys agree with this? If so, do you guys think it's worth it to use tortoises? Up to now I always evaded them pouches because they're hell expensive and I didn't really need those 6 more places anyway; but as I'll be mining for hours and hours, it might be worth it to get it. Will these 6 extra spaces be worth the cost of 12k, compared to terrorbirds which are redundant in my bank?

Thanks !

Personal experience The d pick IS worth it for Gold. It makes a noticible difference. And I would use a lava titan over war tortoise, however use a yak over lava titan if it ever becomes an option

In my experience, Lava Titan nets more ores/hour than a Tortoise, which is the best BoB I have access too.

I have also heard that the dpick is ineffective. My OBSERVATIONS support this, but I don't have any solid tests to back them up.

I am writing an extensive guide on the Living Rock Caverns, and since you appear to be spending a lot of time down there, would you mind helping me out? PM me if interested. It won't take much effort on your part to do. Thanks.

Dpick certainly increases the rate of xp gain, and it does so by at least 10%. Since you can always sell it back after being done with mining, barring an inconceivably huge drop in its price, there is really no reason not to get one.

From my experience the best BoB (yak) is better than the best mining booster (lava), although the differences are quite small. I'm not sure which of the obsidian titan and the tortoise is better, but the lava titan is certainly better than both, so if getting 83 summoning is not an issue then by all means do so.

What's not worth it about the d pick? Jagex wouldn't just throw it in there to match the rune pick, even though everything else of dragon is better than rune, it may not be a HUGE difference, but there will be a difference. And when you're done, sell it. Minimal if any money lost, plus the gold you mined.
