Remove number ratings from "Rate This!"

Featured Replies

I've been looking though the Rate This! board and I find it's become an extremely negative place. I believe that making against the rules to put a number rating in a thread/reply would have a very positive affect on the atmosphere. Of course it wouldn't make sense to keep the name as Rate This, when you couldn't rate anything.

So instead of something like "1/10" everyone can just respond with "fail" or "Boo, you suck". I Support! :^o

It really isn't that negative, the few times it is are in topics like "Rate my day old account."

this thread gets a 2/10

Its more of "Constructive Criticism", sadly only rule in "Rate This!" is if you cant stand bad remarks, don't bother going especially since there are some high level players there who look down on almost everything unless its their favorite skill, extreme grinding (like 1m GoP tokens) or more money to bribe the Corpreal Beast to be your pet.

I haven't been to Rate This in ages, but I've just checked the whole first page and I only found 2 negative replies (all by the same person). So I don't see your problem.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

I don't think that removing ratings would fix a problem. If people can't make negative ratings, then they will leave negative comments which can oftentimes be MORE hurtful. Currently, people are allowed to rate honestly, but if you see ratings with negative/hurtful implications, report it and a moderator will take a look and remove it if necessary. I'm honestly not much of a fan of ratings in general and whenever I post there, it's usually a "Congratulations" and another comment or two. That being said, I don't think there is a problem with the current system. And if there was, I don't think it would get any better by removing ratings. People would still find a way to get a negative message across. Again, just report any negative posts that violate the rules and they will be dealt with.

No. People would just jump from bad ratings to insults.

That forum is meant to be an honest place, whether it be negative or positive criticism. Removing ratings will not only push them into insults (which many of mentioned above) but also degrade the quality of the advice being given.

All we need are two options:

A. "Your account sucks" - negative

B. "No lifer" - positive

OT:

Tripsis basically stated my main opinion on this matter.
