Drop Rates?

Hey, has there ever been any comprehensive drop rate studies, and are there any results?

 

Would be cool to see the estimated drop rates of most monsters if there are any.

Lots of people make drop logs. Some things can change the drop rates though, like LS and ring of wealth. Since RoW can't work in LS ...

Well I don't think there has been a collection of drop logs, if you want a large amount of data you'd have to collect that data yourself probably.

As barely anyone holds drop logs, there are no real results about drop rate. I've heard, for instance, dragon chainbody drop rate from 1:1000 till 1:20,000 at dusties. For visages I hear 1:1500 till 1:15,000 at iron and steel dragons. Abby whips can be anywhere within 1:100 and 1:1500. At these insane low drop rates, only results containing over 100k kills can be accurate. As no one is as insane as that to keep such a drop log, there are, indeed, no accurate drop rates.

 

Also, as already has been noted, drop rates change from time to time so that added, it means it's just a lose on effort to ask for or collect drop rates :P

I have a decent collection of Nechryael data, but the only drop rates I have statistically significant data for are things like coins, runes, charms except blues, and rune full helms and boots.

I have a lot of drop logs for a couple hundred monsters that used to be on the Beastopedia on my old site. I am slowly republishing the Beastopedia on RuneScoop, but right now it is a members' only feature.

 

If you need information for a specific monster or two, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

 

Bear in mind that these logs only show typical results for about 1 to 5 hours of combat -- if you are looking for proof of the drop rates of rare items, you're going to need to aggregate hundreds of hours' worth of drops from different players (and even then, it may not be reliable).

Just boss kills.

 

Drop rates from minions can then be estimated by taking the ratio of drops from minis to drops from boss. For example, 12 of my 170 sara swords are from minis. That means for every 158 zil swords I have 12 mini swords, or 13.17 zil swords for every mini sword. If Sword drop rate from Zil is about 1/136, then that means the estimated sword drop rate from minis is:

 

(1 zil sword / 136 zils) x (1 zil / 3 minis) x (1 mini sword / 13.17 zil swords) = 1/5373
