This is a WIP, I'm working on larger stars. I've got the small stars done, pretty much.

looks good texture wise, is it just me though, or does it look like the black line is too far back? the halves look out of proportion to me, and is there any reason that at the cutoff the black is stronger than the far side of the earth?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Black line". The halves are not out of proportion, just as this is not out of proportion. It's just how it looks from that angle with the lighting in the place where it is. If you rotated the camera about 12 degrees on the global Z axis and moved it a bit to the right, it would look "In proportion", if that's what you want to call it.

The mountains in South America seem to stick out a lot because they're white and the rest of it is rather dark. From the way the light falls it ought to be like this, but to me it looks weird.
