Addy Plates

I've been speaking to IHASChicken as we were both at SC together and we'r both going for 99 smithing; and we were discussing our methods, mine being addy tips till 90, then rune scimis till 98 (according to rs wiki they're only -8gp/exp)....... I'm just wondering how I can calc it...... I'll put an example of what I've done so far trying to calc addy plates because according to chicken plates are about -8gp/exp too; however wiki says they're -13gp/exp.

 

Exp Per Plate using sc hammer = 625exp

Bar cost = 2965

Plate cost = 9840 (though I'd sell at about 9800)

Cost to produce plate = 14825

COST = 14825 - 9800 = 5025.

 

14825/625 = 23gp/exp

 

 

OBVIOUSLY I'm totally wrong; so could someone point me in the right direction and tell me whether plates would be a good way forward or if rune scims then r2h's at 98 (thanks to stouts) would be the best move. It's confuzzling me XD

I didn't re do your math or anything buy my guess is that chicken or rs wiki is using the max price or a old price. also the price of the bars bought could be different. that's my only theory.

What you did wrong was divide 14825 by 625 instead of dividing 5025 by 625. Seeing as after you sell them back it actually costs you 5025 gp to make the plate. Thats where they get the 8 gp/exp. Seems to me that the wiki is using the same prices as you are.

COST = 14825 - 9800 = 5025.

 

14825/625 = 23gp/exp

 

You calculated the net cost correctly, but then inserted the gross cost.

Either they are using different prices or not calculating something in, like not reselling or something.

 

(when i said that the wiki was right, i missed that you said chicken said it was the 8 gp/exp and not the wiki)
