Ok, so i'm thinking of buying full guthans, but i wouldn't use the spear, if i used full guthans and a d scimmy or a whip, would i still get HP from time to time or no?

No, you need to use the spear to get the effect.

only way to get the healing special of guthans is to use the spear and seeing as how your fighting green dragons and you need the ADF shield ( also notice u dont have 85 herblore) that isnt possible. You can try Blue dragons in taverly dungeon OR the dungeon from the watchtower quest that consists of ogre shamans, greater demons, lesser demons, and blue dragons.

You need the full set in order to heal, so you need to use the spear.

 

You could just use it casually while training slayer, wielding the spear when you need to heal.

Blue d hides are also more valuable, so if you have good stats, the time difference is debatable.

Green drags can get crowded, so blue dragons MIGHT be better, although they are quite far from a bank. There are green dragons always empty a bit southeast of the KBD, so you could try killing them there. It's only a short run from the Wilderness Volcano.
