Curses, Bork, Jade Vine

Recommended Posts

I fought Bork and the Jade Vine for the first time in a little while and noticed that since I was on curses, I had to use them in the fights.

Reflecting damage doesn't work. It seems that the curses do protect, but they do not reflect damage as you get the message "You are unable to reflect damage back to this creature."

I usually flash curses between protect melee and magic at Bork, but either the timing was changed on it or the protect magic prayer doesn't work at all on the Elite Dagon'hai Mage.

I think they changed the timing when you switch prayers. I used to pray right before Jad hit me, and it worked just fine. Now you need to pray like 3 seconds in advance.

Hmmm...so it might just be that you can't reflect damage to some monsters...of which the special slayer ones are included.

They didn't change the timing of prayers activating. You were just too slow.

I think many people have stated that the prayer timing changed (see many MANY posts on fighting Jad).

You cannot protect the mage's attack. I tried to kill Bork once just praying mage the entire time. That noob still damaged me :(

When I did fight caves with curses: If I turned on the curse while the attack was in mid-air (meaning, the beast launched it, but it hadn't "hit" me yet), sometimes I'd get hit, and then sometimes with the 360, I'd get hit the next attack too, and then the curse would take effect.

When I did fight caves with prayer: I would do the exact same as above, only I wouldn't get hit.

From my experience, the curses DO take longer to come into effect.

So curses do not deflect damage against Bork AND Jade Vine?

Correct...the error message appears saying damage is not reflected.

Same thing happens with Vyrewatch and Rings of Recoil, damage unable to be reflected back.. I don't think it's a glitch or a bug, but rather it's meant to be that way.

Cut from the void, not from bewilderment. Cut the enemy as quickly and directly as possible. Cut with certainty. Cut decisively, resolutely. Cut into his strength. Flow through the gaps in his guard. Cut him. Cut him down utterly. Don't allow him a breath. Cut him without mercy to the depths of his spirit. It is the balance of life: death. It is the dance with death."

I may have missed it...where did we say it was a glitch or a bug?

He's referring to the Vyrewatch, not Bork / Jade Vine.

Hmm, perhaps I misread some of the posts, thought people were saying it was a bug. >.< My mistake, then. Either way, that doesn't change the fact that Vyrewatch are also affected by this inability to reflect damage.

Also, 'she', not 'he'. ^.^

Ok so I've been killing our friend Bork for a while on Curses and here's what I've noticed.

You CAN reflect damage back onto Bork, but not always. Sometimes I do manage to, and other times I can't and I get the error message you posted.

If the message states you can't reflect damage to the creature...if the message is only referring to the mage, then that's possible, but if it doesn't reflect sometimes, that's only because it's a miss.

I was praying melee. Can't be the mage.

What I mean is, sometimes I DO reflect damage back. I know this because there are two splats on Bork at one time, and it's also synchronized with the "arm sweep" animation of the deflect curse.

Other times, however, I fail to reflect damage and get the message you stated.

That's strange and forgive me, but it doesn't make much sense. I think multiple confirmations and/or video of it would be good. Why it would state you could not reflect damage to the monster, then allow you to do so...I don't understand that.

Perhaps that's a bug.

Perhaps you can only sometimes reflect damage back, and whenever you can't, you get that message.

It's like classic woodcutting. You can't always get a log, and when you fail because you slipped, you get that message.

I would have thought they'd word the message differently if that were the case, but it's possible.
