Komodo_Jo
The quest guide said that killing the waterfiends is helpful, but not required. This seems to not totally be true. I followed the guide up until the point where I had shoved the broken heat globe thing down the hole. It then said to go back downstairs and the waterfiend in the iceblock would be released and I could loot the box for the runes. This was not the case. The waterfiend and box were still frozen in a block of ice. After trying to figure out what I'd done wrong, I finally decided to go back and kill all the icefiends I'd released up until that point (which I had just ignored since the guide said I didn't need to kill them). After killing them all, I went back down and the ice block had melted, freeing the waterfiend and allowing me to access the chest. At this point I was able to continue on with the quest. Anyway, it seems that you must kill at least some of the waterfiends in order to follow the directions the guide gives. In retrospect, I may have been able to skip that part and continue on in the quest, but I would have had to skip getting the runes from that box at least. mlskid
No, the quest guide is correct. I did the quest without killing a single waterfiend; however I did have the same problem you had. But then i figured it out and was able to finish the quest easily. Summoning help:[hide=Wio, lol][/hide]
Vulxai
Hello, Komodo_Jo, Killing the waterfiends is in fact, optional, but it does mention in the guide that killing them is recommended. You would have been able to skip that part if you opted out of killing the waterfiend and been able to finish the quest. If you have any other concerns, feel free to PM me about this!
