moocow123
Question: approximately how much data is downloaded in 1 hr playing Runescape? I'm aware the volume might vary greatly, but i'd like to get at least an estimation/ ballpark. Alternatively, how long do you suppose 1GB credit of downloadable data might last if playing RS. I'm going on holidays shortly and will be constantly on the move, so I thought of buying prepaid mobile iNet cards for my notebook. Now i'm left wondering how many of these i should buy. Also, the connection speed provided is max 4MBit/s, is that enough to support the game running smoothly? Any help or insight will be greatly appreaciated. Mil
1GB should keep you playing for quite sometime, it should last your entire holiday if you are only going to be using it to play RuneScape. With other general internet usage, 1GB can rack up extremely quickly. The primary concern is the latency of the mobile internet card. So even though you might expect high speeds in some places, you may be quite laggy in other places.
moocow123
Thanks for swift answer. I'll look into the latency issue. Also, i'll be gone for about 3 weeks and usually play 3-4 hrs daily, all the while checking emails and facebook. So still not sure how many GB to purchase
Quorra
TBH I don't think it uses more than 5kb/s, I used to have a monitor thing and it barely went over 2kb/s
Jernlov
Don't underestimate the amount of data you will need. Gaming consumes minimal bandwidth, but you can quite easily rack up between 150 and 300MB of usage per day by browsing alone. Even if you're only going to be playing RuneScape, checking email and using Facebook, I would recommend paying for 2GB as an absolute minimum. That way, you'll have some kind of safety net if you do go over your 1GB. NetMeter is a useful tool to check how much bandwidth you're using. Download the second file on that list if you're interested. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
moocow123
Thanks for advice. Downloaded the meter. Will purchase about 3 GB to stay on the safe side.
