Ultimate Potion Making Efficiency Guide

Hello and welcome to my short but sweet potion making efficiency guide. This guide will tell you how to make potions at a high rate.

After making 1000's upon 1000's of unfinished potions to sell for profit i devolped a natural touch at making potions faster than the average player and will share my secrets.

I have decided to create this guide now, as the bonus exp weekend is fast approaching and seconds wasted is exp down the drain.

Without further a do, let us begin:

  • When choosing what bank to use, consider the amount of traffic coming in and out. For example, using the castle wars chest on a castle wars world would greatly increase the lag, and therefore decreasing the amount of potions made. (using the grand exchange is also not advised)

  • Using my method, a 1 click bank is not necessary.

  • Use the world with the best ping (lower the ping, the less lag). This will increase potions per hour.

Step 1: Withdrawing the equipment

This step requries you to have a tab dedicated to potion making. You can also see that i have put my water filled vials and clean herbs (or secondaries) at the far right of the bank screen, directly next to each other, which limits mouse movement.

You can also see that i have 'withdraw-14' already selected as the default 'X' option.

Step 2: Using the vial with the herb

In this step you can see that i simply use the water filled vial with the clean herb directly to the south of it. This again limits mouse movement.

Step 3: Make all

This step is the same between all players. If your quick you can use the delay between right clicking and left clicking to move your curser south without losing seconds.

Step 4: Quick bank at the ready

In this step you have to use timing to get it right. As the final herbs (or secondaries) are close to being mixed, right click your bank ready to deposit your items. As the final herb is being mixed, Left click.

Step 5: Emptying your backpack

This step utilised the 'Empty backpack' option, allowing you to 1 click your invent into your bank, ready to repeat the process.

Rinse and repeat. Thankyou for reading!

[hide=Numbers]My latest speed test using the very scientific Iphone stopwatch, comes in at 501 pots in at an impressive 9 minutes and 41 seconds.

I'm no mathematician, but saying that '501' pots was '500', and that '9 minutes and 40 seconds' was rounded up to '10 minutes', I would say that 3000 Pp/H (Pots per hour, tehe) is obtainable. Of course, taking into account basic human behaviour, mistakes will be made and fingers will be burned off so if you would like to reach this number on the EXP weekend, taking frequent breaks and drinking lots of tea won't do any harm :)... "shutup mum".

Test 1 - 501 Potions, 09:41

Test 2 - 501 Potions, 09:47 - Had world lag twice.

Very good guide, straight the point and no faffing. Only down side is that you saved your images are .jpg, saving them as .png will make them much clearer.

You miss one thing (except for using mousestrokes, but I'm not into that either): you want a full bank tab and thén allign the potions to the right of your bank, so they are even closer to the "Deposit-All" button. Maybe you want to suggest to use a bankchest too, like the one in Castle Wars, Duel Arena or Shantay Pass. Less clicking is less killing of your mousehand ;)

Thanks alot :D

Yeh i will add some 'tips' in now!

as for the full bank, you still have to move your mouse to the top of the bank to click the 'x', so having the potions at the top or bottom wont make alot of difference.

Thanks! Always wondered why they came out slightly distorted!

I would also suggest using the toggle run button for x-ing out of your bank. I find the small x at the right of your bank too small to click on. It's much easier to just click on run ON/OFF once to get out of your bank menu.

Mmm, i tried this but found that because my herbs are directly underneath the 'X' it was more convienent to do it my way.

Numbers added! Please read!

If you put your vials on the row right below your herbs you'll end up closer to your vials when you click "Withdraw 14", reducing the mouse movement. I'm not sure if this will decrease the time any, but it's always how I've done it.

Great guide, also!

thankyou very much sir and that sounds like a very interesting. I will be sure to try it out. Only downside i see to it is that you'll end up further away from the 'x'.

It's offset by the fact that you withdraw all your items a lot quicker.

or you can use this:

then the your location relative to the X doesnt matter :D

also, you should change the name of the guide as this works for fletching crafting and a few other bank skills :P

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).
