Need some monster hunting advice.

Featured Replies

Ok so im not the biggest monster hunter but lately i've become very bored of training skills and working on cb, after 90 attack and 85 slayer i was thinking of either doing some monster hunting(GWD, KBD, CE, GM, TW, ect.) and i was wondering which ones i can do with my stats(provided i should be 90 attack and 95 hp by this time).

I know for sure i can do KBD, Giant Mole, Tormented Wraith, and Chaos Ele(not solo however) and KQ but i perfer NOT to go here as last time i died very quickly ): but i was wondering what else i can do.

EDIT: For GWD, i have only been to a boss monster 1 time and that was Zamorak and due to a failed tank i got crushed so im still very new to killing the bosses. (zammy and bandos to be more specific because i've never been to Sara or Arma as i dont believe my stats are good enough yet.)

Dk.

They are my favorite boss by a lot. You should be able to hybrid no problem with your stats. Maging might be a little difficult with only 80, but still you could do it.

DK drops: Berserker:15/Axe:30/ Warrior:14/Archers:15/ Seers:10/ Mud:6/ Total:90

GWD Drops: (Bandos: 1x Hilt, 1x BCP, 2x boots)

Well you already know some of the things you could probably hunt, solo or with a team/duo. As you said - KBD, GM, TW, KQ you can solo and CE you can do maybe in a team/duo so just work from here in gaining an understanding of bosshunting.

I think that when you do WGS you'll be able to do TD's..... Albeit not excellently, however you'll be able to do well enough.

The thing that's limiting you with the boss hunting is no unicorn. For the majority of bosses now a tort or yak filled with brews and restores and a couple of pony pouches can even see a person like me solo a couple of Gaaradors if I wanted to.

DK's might be an idea. However I don't really know much about them.

But yea, currently stick to what you know and see how it goes then expand into different things like GWD.

Also another thing that might be useful is that when the herb market stabilises again try and get to ~85 or is it 88 herblore, and get extremes which will help you find teams on RSOF and here.

People will give better answers than me obviously because I'm new to bosshunting too; but would love to start doing it when my lappy is not so laggy and crap.

Happy Hunting :)

(though just as a little note - some people prefer slayer to boss hunting as it's steady and "safe" income ;) )

And why not challenge jad? :) one of the hardest soloable boss monsters in the game. Which will surely be easy to get to now with the 99 defence. I got my fire cape with 85 def and 70 range. :)

You could honestly do almost every boss, except arma due to fairly low range, with a small team. I've been to every boss and my melee stats are far worse than yours. Just start easy and work your way up. The more experience boss hunting you have, the more bosses you can try and the more expensive gear you should feel safe bringing.

Well, i recently tried dk's and while i did get a axe drop on my first kill(im guessing either their fairly common or i just got very very lucky) i wasnt able to stay there for more than 1 kill with my stats using guthans maging with CoG and Void Mace (i was using a guide on the AoW). I went to the CE with a few friends just a little bit ago and got smoked so bad, KBD i know i can solo because i've done it before, and Mole is honestly IMO worthless because the drops are horrible. So...that being said, how about doing duo/trio at bandos? i've never been here before but i really want to try it out. Im also thinking about trying some of the other things like DK's again if i can get more experience or a better team because i think that either a horrible team OR no experience caused me to tele out before we could finish off prime.

Bandos is really crowded.

And how did you only get one kill maging with 99 defense and full guthans? What went wrong?

I think what it was is that when we almost had prime out, one of the other teamates(we was tribriding) got supreme on him and when my 2nd teamate turned to attack supreme that left prime and rex (who respawned on me unfortunantly) on me and ended up getting me to 50 hp before i could heal i was forced to tele out.

I would never suggest tribriding. Every time I've tried failed. I would suggest starting at maging, you should easily be able to get atleast 40 kills solo. Hybriding is a little bit harder but much more fun. I can get 20-30 kills solo with lower melee stats than you. but your range is a little low to solo hybrid.

dont you think ill have some trouble soloing since i have no experience at it?

Yes. I'm just saying that once you get a few trips with a teacher you will get the hang of it then can solo. Once you know what you're doing it's very easy.

(If I get a dag task sometime soon, I'd love to go and teach you.)

I prefer Verac's over Guthan's because I have a Titan to heal me. Guthan's will work well with a tort. Repace the dragon boots with a magic-based boot. i.e. Infinity/Mystic. RoL are good for your first few trips, but a seer's ring would probably be better once you get the hang of it. I personally believe that a BSS is better than a DFS with Verac's, but with Guthan's a DFS is really good and will be a worthy investment one day. A fury is a whole lot better than a glory, but atm they are very high in price and may not be worth the extra cash.

Now i need a invo + tort setup

EDIT: LOST MY VOID MACE!!!!!!!! now what....do i just use the staff from the mage arena or should i trry to get it back?

EDIT2: Ezkaton, i looked at the link u sent me but the problem is for the setup that person is using they have a yak & unicorn which i dont, so what should i take in place of that?

For your inventory take about 8 brews (yes, it's a lot, but only for now. Once you get the hang of things you should only bring 2-4) And the rest Super Restores. You should last a very long time with that setup and an experienced duo partner.

About the Void mace: I would either use a SOL and a fire wave spell (costly) or use the regular mage arena staff. (The annoying-can't-autocast-way. <_< )

EDIT: Either bring bunyips for after your tort runs out or bring more torts to bank the extra bones at the end of the trip.

Sorry I wasn't looking at the forums for a bit. Anyways as the wizard says either add more torts to the invo to try and keep some bones and renew when needed, or if that's a hassle, take some bunyips.

Well I'm getting my attack and strength to 90 at some point soon too so when my computer is fixed I'll be more than willing to take you along with some of my friends to GWD. Also when I get around to questing I'll again be more than willing to take you TD duo with me.

But yea, look on RSOF and see if you can find any masses going to GWD.
