Woodcutting speed

Featured Replies

Hi

A quick question:

Will i ever be able to cut maple trees fast ? - with fast i mean like chopping oak trees

I'm currently lvl. 72 in woodcutting and using a dragon hatchet and i think it still takes "forever" to get the logs.

If you want speed, cut ivy.

Hi

Yes, i know cutting ivy is faster, however, it's not fast experience i'm after - it's cutting trees in order to get logs for fletching and firemaking.

In that case put 5 or 10 workers on maples in MTk and cut ivy. There's no reason why you should be cutting willows/maples in P2P.

Maybe he enjoys cutting maples?

This could be very much the case.

OT: No. You'll never be able to cut maples at the speed you cut oaks. They'll get faster (if I'm not mistaken), but it won't be a huge difference.

Well, untill i unlock my own kingdom i have to do it this way !

Well, i don't mind - i just find it a bit odd that i'm not able to cut logs faster being the level i am in woodcutting

The ability to cut maple trees is unlocked at level 45 and i'm level 72, so i would expect to this to be reflected in the speed in which i can obtain the logs when chopping away at a maple tree

well to put it this way...im 88 wc and i can only cut maples SLIGHTLY faster than magics...so yea their very very slow even at 85+

Thank you for the answer - not the answer i wanted to hear though !

I'll guess i just have to accept that cutting maples will never be fast then

You are really wasting your time with maples. Your mentality, unless i am mistaken, is that it will save you cash. That is actually false. In a sense, you are spending more money cutting maples than just buying them. That is because instead of making money, you choose to cut maples. You can cut maybe 500 maples an hour? Maybe even less? Thats like 20k gp right there. I personally can make over 800k an hour. In the time you spent cutting those maples, you could have made 800k (or whatever you can make in an hour) instead of 20k gp and some negligible wc exp. If you spent time collecting fungus, rcing, etc., you could be making far more money to buy those supplies, and spend your time training for exp rather than money. Consider it :)

Really, maples are always fairly slow: even at level 99, I still find it annoying. You're better off just doing something else any buying them from lower leveled/misguided players and pocketing the saved time and extra cash.
