Stethoscope contradiction?

Featured Replies

Just a small thing I noticed in two seperate parts of the website. Both can't be correct as they say the exact opposite, and it can be confusing if someone looks at both, or just plain wrong if they look at the incorrect one.

It relates to using stethoscopes when safe cracking at the rogues den.

In the thieving guide (the 'other thieving methods' section) it says:

Located in the Rogue's Den, which can be reached by entering the trapdoor behind the bar in the Burthorpe Inn. Having a stethoscope in your inventory, which can be bought from Martin Thwait, is proven to increase your chances of opening safes. (Don't bother to "use" it on the safe - tests show this is less effective.) If you fail you will be hit for up to 60 damage.

However, in the items database for the stethoscope it says:

Increases chances that you successfully crack safes in the Rogue's Den entrance room. Note that having this item in your inventory does not aid you on cracking the wall safes. You need to 'Use' the Stethoscope on them.

As you can see, it gives contradicting information. Personally, I think having it in your inventory is enough.

Thanks for alerting us to this! It appears that the guide is correct from testing this ingame. I've made the change to the item entry and credited you.
