Rares are making lots of people mad in runescape. you can not remove them because the richest players will say they lost millions and quit. you cant make them untradible because many will cry that they just sold their phat and now have none. you cant redrop them because the rich will quit.

 

 

 

note rich is used to say anyone who has a rare

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

how about a trade x on rares. when you trade a rare it looks like this

after a rare has passed 100 difrent people it becomes untradible or unwieldible to any new player it will not be replaced for free like the newer drops. after a few months the rares will be almost enlemated in the game except for the few that dont merchant them and enjoy them for what they are ment to be for.

I am so tired of all these people whining about rares. No one is making you poor by having one. NO one is forcing you to buy one. If you don't like it don't worry about it. I am so tired of people who either are to poor to have one or had one and sold it and wish they would of made more money saying that these shouldn't be in the game. I think that if they have rares good for them if they don't good for them. So stop whining and just play.

Actually, this is exactly the case and exactly why this is a problem. Because rares sell for such ridiculous prices, there are a number of people (Okay me included but I still have a point) that have a ridiculous ammount of cash. Since players who profitted on rares have so much more cash than those who didn't, they can pay more for goods and services. This effectively devaluates the currency, in effect, making the poster and all others who have not profitted on rares poorer.

Well since Runescape has such bad money sinks the money has to be spent somewhere, this is why such rare items are worth alot, because there is so much money in the game. The price of materials hasn't really changed much in Runescape's history, I know this from personal experience.

Too bad that sole fact proves absolutely nothing :roll:. There are too many factors and special cases etc. involved in the economy that to try and disprove an economic principle with a single example (Poorly supported I might add) is impossible.

jagex made a mistake by making rares tradeable in the first place. its something they simply did not foresee, and something its probably way too late to fix. so far any new drops (holiday or random event) are untradeable, and frankly i like it that way. i love my forester hat for the same reason jagex intended for the phats. they look cool, even though they give no stat bonuses.

The problem you describe has nothing to do with the rares problem at all, but with the hyper-inflation caused by high-alching. In fact, rares counter the hyper-inflation somewhat, keeping materials low.

i don't go for rares much, but i would LOVE a red p-hat. would go so well with those red gloves i picked off a dead man's corpse.

to me, there is always a VERY slow decrease in the amount of rares, due to deaths, banning and whatever else. How about this: Minerdude2343 decides to show off in the wildy with his prize yellow phat. Minerdude2343 mines rune ore in wildy and goes afk. Rock golem attacks Minerdude2343, and kills him. Miner2343 comes back from his toilet break to find himself in lumby. He dashes back to the rune rocks, only to find that his phat is gone. FOREVER.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On a side note, are rares F2P-tradable?
