Better to solo or duo in Dungeoneering

Featured Replies

I want to play Dungeoneering with a friend of mine. The problem is that our skill and combat levels are really different. I've got pretty high combat skills, and they have pretty high non combat skill levels. I've only played solo so far, so I've got a few questions about what's in store for us.

1) How are the monster difficulties calculated? If I'm level 137 and they are level 50, will we get really hard monsters based on my level or really easy ones based on theirs?

2) How is the XP calculated? I'm assuming that I'm going to be doing most (or maybe all) of the fighting. Will my partner get any dungeoneering XP out of the level at all, or does everyone on the team get the same XP?

3) I noticed that at the end of a floor, when your score is being tallied, there is a list of accomplishments of the right side of the screen (most melee damage, most deaths, etc). Does this have any impact on your score?

4) Will either of us lose out in this arrangement? Would one of us actually get better XP if we went solo instead?

Dungioneering as a group is very very badly done. If one of you is higher dungioneering level than the other then it'll be hard to get synced up due to the way prestige works.

To be honest, you'd be better off soloing, which is sad as they've made it almost impossible (or made it uninviting) to play with friends.

It will take both of your levels into account if you play on 2:2 difficulty. If you play on 2:1, the monsters will be based on only the level 50. But if you do that, you will both take a massive 'unbalanced team' XP penalty.

You get XP based on the level and on your prestige. Who does what in the level doesn't matter.

No.

You will generally get more XP doing teams than solo. Most people also think it is more fun. The lower level player generally will gain more from the arrangement.

One possible gotcha to watch out for is that you will often have to make armor for the lower player, as the stuff in the starting room will probably be katagon.

one note, if he has better production skills than you, this might work out very well. he could make armor for you while you fight.

a good 5 man team is easily 4x faster xp than a solo player.

Just learn to find ppl who dungeoneer alot.

as for your setup, Qeltar covered most of it.

I would say that a high combat - high skiller setup is actually pretty ideal.

the skiller of the party will always be busy openning doors anyways, so he won't be doing much combat even if his combat level were high.

definitely duo in t his set up. Just make sure you and your partner define your respective duties well.

Thanks. I was trying to avoid a situation where I would be basically doing the entire level by myself, and they would be standing around watching me.

In truth, I'm not a really big fan of the skill so I really don't care much if I lose some XP because our levels aren't synced. I'm basically just doing it to help out my friend. As long as I'm not making it worse for them, I'm happy with the arrangement.
