Guest r3dh3adkid Posted November 20, 2005 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Alright well my computer has been more sluggish than usual for about 2 or 3 days now. I have no idea what could be doing this I have scanned with CCleaner, Spyboy Search and Destroy, and Norton removed all stuff that they have said to remove and it is still opening programs slowly and such. I've tried to minimize as many programs running in the background as I can. Some programs I cannot get rid of because my father uses this computer and their his programs and he will yell at me if I delete them so I have to keep them here. Here is a Hijack This log (scanned about 3 minutes ago) Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 1:45:39 PM, on 11/20/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\services[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\ISSVC[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\KodakCCS[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ScsiAccess[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\wbload[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\Explorer[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ezSP_Px[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\AGRSMMSG[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\jusched[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\Google\Gmail Notifier\G001-1.0.25.0\gnotify[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\iTouch\iTouch[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\MouseWare\system\em_exec[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpotdd01[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\Xfire\Xfire[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\AIM\aim[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\Program Files\firefox[Caution: ExecutableFile] D:\unzipped\hijackthis\HijackThis[Caution: ExecutableFile] R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customi ... .yahoo.com R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.runescape.com/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.sony.com/vaiopeople R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customi ... .yahoo.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customi ... earch.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customi ... .yahoo.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customi ... .yahoo.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost N3 - Netscape 7: user_pref("browser.search.defaultengine", "engine://C%3A%5CProgram%20Files%5CNetscape%5CNetscape%5Csearchplugins%5CSBWeb_01.src"); (C:\Documents and Settings\R3H3adKid\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\xm5ian2v.slt\prefs.js) O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - D:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: CNisExtBho Class - {9ECB9560-04F9-4bbc-943D-298DDF1699E1} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AdBlocking\NISShExt.dll O2 - BHO: CNavExtBho Class - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - D:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: AIM Search - {40D41A8B-D79B-43d7-99A7-9EE0F344C385} - C:\Program Files\AIM Toolbar\AIMBar.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton Internet Security - {0B53EAC3-8D69-4b9e-9B19-A37C9A5676A7} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AdBlocking\NISShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - D:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! weezcake Posted November 20, 2005 Share Posted November 20, 2005 I'd change Norton for AVG (or another anti-virus that you might like better). Norton is such a resource hog.. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Another person who belives the rumor. :roll: I use Norton and have NEVER experienced a slow down of my pc or lag because of it. It updates silently in the background and I dont notice a difference and it scans every file in realtime before opening. Works great. :D Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. Mercifull Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 Coincidence, badly build computer, plain old bad luck. Could be a multitude of reasons. Obviously installing Norton 2005 on a Windows 200 pc with 256 of ram is going to lag but it ran fine with only 512 of ram on my pc before I upgraded. weezcake Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 It runs okay on 512 (my laptop has 512), but computers run FASTER without it. My laptop runs fine.. loads up in about 5 sec after Windows does. :) ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring. primadog Posted November 24, 2005 Share Posted November 24, 2005 Have you try defragging the computer? Also, check to see if you are using too much harddrive space, below 75% is usually good. Finally, you might wanna disable some of the autolaunchers in your startup menu. To do this, go to start-run-"msconfig" check selective startup, click on "startup" tap. get rid of stuff like aim, and so forth. Don't touch anything you dont know about though. All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have 2 drives on my computer currently (or either 1 thats partoned into two I dont really know) C Drive which has 13.9 GB max and I only have 105 MB free left on it. D Drive which has 55.5 GB max and I only have 46.4 GB free left on it. When I go to defrag C it says I need to have a minimum of 15% free space left on it. I have uninstalled all the programs that I dont need on C but their is still alot of stuff left on it that I either dont know how to get rid of or I need. Do you know a way to transfer items from C to D? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Hannibal Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 You have Norton, but it didn't do anything against weatherbug? Oddness. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/av ... erbug.html Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest r3dh3adkid Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 I think it's caught it in the past but i've told it to ignore it because its my dad's program and he insists on keeping it even tho i've told him countless times that it isnt a safe program.
