Let us upload pictures/screenshots to Runescape.com

Featured Replies

If Jagex let us upload pictures to Runescape.com then we could post pictures in the Forums and link people to pictures in game because the pictures would have a Runescape.com link.

If Jagex wanted to be a little more strict to ensure no adult or inappropriate pictures were posted gets on the forums, they could do one of two things

1) add an in-game screenshot feature so that there would be no way to post pics of anything except what is on Runescape.

2) Filter through all images before allowing them to be public (if that's possible - I imagine it is).

It could be a member's only feature so that people would be encouraged to buy membership.

One question before I'm finished: If Jagex made this feature, would you use it? I know I would.

I would use it, but not all that often. There's really not that much of an incentive for Jagex to add a system like that though.

Wait, something similar is coming for Dungeoneering though: photo-booths where you can upload the pic to the forums, I believe.

Support transparency... and by extension, freedom and democracy.

Filtering through images first? Yeah right. An in-game screenshot idea is plausible though.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Well the incentive is the the same incentive that they have for making adventurers logs - the players enjoy it and so they buy membership. That's true that they're already doing some in-game screenshot stuff so that means they have what it takes to do it so I see that as a good thing.

Another thing I just thought of that they could do to make it really cool is they could make runescape profiles that people could see by just going to runescape.com/RUNESCAPENAMEHERE e.g. runescape.com/tedbundty and here people could see your adventure log, forum posts, high scores and screenshots.

Here is how they can take a screenshot in Java:

(hard coded)

       try {

           Robot robot = new Robot();

           BufferedImage bi=robot.createScreenCapture(GameCanvas.getBounds);
           ImageIO.write(bi, "png", new File("/img/players/playername/image.png"));

       } catch (Exception e) {
   e.printstacktrace;
       }

The only thing about uploading it to RS is bandwidth and space issues. 10 million players taking a 120KB picture is a lot of space. And 400 staff going through 10 million picture = a lot of time wasted in which they could be developing updates.

This could backfire. People could upload advertisements, porn, and God knows what.

Which is why it's best to have an ingame screenshot feature instead. The biggest issue is the time when it's just released, and everyone takes a screenshot to try it out. Several servers explode.

I think going through all the screenshots would be incredibly inefficient. I think before they allow any uploads, they need to first sort out their forums moderation process.

Most screenshots are taken by pixels on your screen. If a player were to set a porn picture on top of the game and trigger a screenshot then it defeats the purpose/
