Now I know responses here are going to be full of bias; and I hold that same bias. But I'd like to hear of any experiences similar/dissimilar to this.

When Jake Walker upsets his girlfriend, Jaci Boydston, he might buy her flowers.

When Jaci feels she owes an apology to Jake, she agrees to play a round of the Nintendo fighting game "Super Smash Brothers."

Jaci and Jake, who both attend Kansas State University, are a modern couple dealing with a modern issue. One of them is a gamer; the other is not. Theirs is not an unusual plight. For decades gamers and non-gamers in love have struggled to find harmony.

At Kansas State the frustration is rampant. Like most college campuses, it is a place where the release of "Halo 2" last year was the best of times and the worst of times. And while there is such a thing as couples in which both people are into games ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã

What a load of horse [cabbage]. These girls have issues if they're jealous of video games. They're in college, break up with your boyfriend if you're not enjoying it. When you're at a school with potential 30,000+ people your age, there's no excuse for hanging onto someone when you're not enjoying it. This is their fault.

How is it the girl's fault? The guy can't give up the virtual world for a real relationship, therefore it's the guy's fault. Obviously, the solution is for the girl to just leave him, just like you said. But that's tough. Breaking up is hard to do, especially if it's caused by some trivial little thing like a video game. Guys should not let their gaming ruin their relationships.

What shocks me is that virtual reality actually can take precedent over love. If I was sitting here playing a computer game, no matter how intense it is, if some hot chick walked in the door, I would simply stop the game, take the headset off, and take my hands off the keyboard/mouse. It wouldn't even be a contest. Hmm, a fighting game in virtual reality, or a beautiful girl in actual reality? Game over, man!

haha, thats pretty funny. i could actually see that happening though, once i started playing morrowind last year, i quit doing anything (even skipping dinner everynow and then, holding my piss for longer than is probably healthy  ). its only happened in maybe 3 games though, i can easily put down the others.

what if youve been going out with that girl for a while, she knows you like to play games, and you are right about to beat the game after playing it for the past month? she could wait 5 minutes for you to finish it, wouldnt hurt her any. but if shes like the people in this article, she would get pissed you didnt stop it for her.

It's not the girls fault, but she should break up with him. A guy's addiction go gaming wouldn't just develop over night. I know breaking up is hard, but chances are he's been addicted to gaming this whole time so she's feeling more distant as time progresses. Obviously, if it gets far enough for them to make a little girl scouts for game haters then she should be able to end it.

No, the people in this article only get pissed after it happens over and over again. What you're talking about is one single instance. That's a good point, though. In that case, I would make her wait 5 minutes. Although I would still pause for a few seconds (if the game had that option).
