May 17, 201016 yr Hi guys, just bought Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source. But there is an issue I'm having with the game, weapon names. Like, instead of the AK-47 being called an AK-47, it's instead called the CV-47. The same is in both versions. It bothers me because I find the weapon names like AK-47 and Deagle to be easier to understand. I'll sometimes accidently buy the wrong weapon because I don't know what it is. Is it supposed to be like this? Is there anyway to change the weapon names?

May 17, 201016 yr Well I'm not sure - you can change the names of guns in TF2 so I guess it might be the same.I'll scrounge around the game files for you :3 Edit:Unsuccessful. Sorry :/ I guess it is because, like Dracion said, its in the Engine...
May 17, 201016 yr As far as I am aware the AK-47 and Deagle were named so in Source, not sure about 1.6 though. I doubt you'd be able to change the names of weapons like you can do in TF2 because the item system is different, easier just to learn which is which. "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
May 18, 201016 yr Try not to remember the names of the weapons, rather the hotkeys instead. Eg. b 4 1 is the ak and armour is b 8 1 etc etc. It's been a while since I've played and I still remember them lol. Plus I don't know if there is a way to change the names of the weapons, legally anyway.
May 18, 201016 yr Author I kinda got it. I know the fourth pistol is the Deagle and the second rifle is the AK. And the last rifle is the AWP.
