After a while, I noticed that this doesn't happen when I play the game with low detail. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have 2600. It says you need 128mb of RAM. I have 512. I was just making sure). neo_bahumat Posted November 24, 2005 Share Posted November 24, 2005 Hi m8, searched teh web a while for you, and found the solution (well it worked for some1 with the same problem, so fingers crossed) btw if you have a system restore point saved recently, that also fixes it step 1 : check out system properties -------->advanced------->performance---------->DEP (Data Execution Prevention) if its on then its the main cause of ur problem if not... then ur not lucky as i am. step 2 : how to disable this thing , its not easy though but i could handle it first make a system disk if u dont have one already with attrib[Caution: ExecutableFile] file and edit app running from dos coz u wont be able to edit the file which has the problem in it in windows. step 3 : the file we are looking for is boot.ini which is located at c:\ the main dir of ur booting hard-disk step 4 : startup (boot) from the system disk u made then do these commands 1. attrib -r -h -s c:\boot.ini "remove the hidden,read only, system properties from file" 2. copy c:\boot.ini boot.bak "back-up the boot.ini file" 3. edit c:\boot.ini "now here where we should start adding the option to disable DEP" in file u will see ---> [boot loader] timeout=4 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=Optin C:\ = "Microsoft Windows" the only command we want to change is the /NoExecute option change the /NoExecute=Optin to /NoExecute=AlwaysOff now just exit when prompt to save the edited file just select YES step 5 : change attribs back to normal by this commanmd attrib +h +r +s c:\boot.ini step 6 : restart windows normally and i hope u get rid of this i found this at the following site http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/memory_c ... t4911.html so maybe check there is the problem persists, i'd love to help you further, but my knowledge aint so hot, so ive just tried to find the best i could for you man, gl hope it helps -=[ Gaz ]=- Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For anyone who doesn't want to have to read through all of the old posts: The game is freezing and the error on the first page makes me close Internet Explorer. I only have this problem on high detail. Runescape works on all other browsers/details. I am not going to change browsers, because the entire point of this is to be able to play Runescape with sounds. The sounds were my favorite part of RS2, and greatly helped me graduate from a semi-noob to a non-noob(i think :? ) I am really willing to try anything at this point. Psx0 Posted March 10, 2006 Share Posted March 10, 2006 The image of the error message appears to be broken now, however if the error you describe is similar to what I experienced in the past then changing your Java Virtual Machine might fix it. Are you by any chance using Sun's Java? If so, you should try Microsoft's JVM. I used to get a problem a lot that forced me to close IE too and I was using the Sun JVM, but since I've switched I haven't had the same problem ever again. Microsoft no longer offers this on their web site due to a legal agreement with Sun. And while Sun's is supposed to be most up to date JVM, I find the MS one much more reliable for RuneScape.
