Fooling a webpage that times out.

For one of my classes in school, I'm supposed to do homework online. The website keeps track of how much time you spend working, and automatically times out after about ten minutes of inactivity. I was wondering if there was a way to keep constant activity on the site while I'm away from my computer (I want to leave it on while I'm at school . . . and all day and night if I can). I remember reading somewhere that pressing the 5 key while on mousekeys sends a constant signal or something like that, so could I just find a way to hold that key down?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I know nothing about programming, so something relatively easy to do would be preferable. Thanks.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

We people on the Tech board shouldn't be helping you with this, if it compromises the standard of your schoolwork mellow.gif

Clearly it won't be obvious to see a person doing "school work" 24/7. It might be better for you to just do the work if you think this is a good idea.

Given that the timer set in place is to gauge how long you've actually been working, we cannot aid you in circumventing it. As littleboy said, "[we] shouldn't be helping you with this, if it compromises the standard of your schoolwork."

I'm going to have to agree unfortunately.

This sounds like an issue between you, your professor and the dean of the college you are enrolled in. We cannot compromise our moral integrity by encouraging academic dishonesty in any forum, be it you are fulfilling a time requirement or another stipulation of the course.

I wish you the best of luck in your course, and strongly encourage you to chat with your professor on this matter.

Thank You
