November 27, 201015 yr Just got the game... I must say, it's brilliant! Probably the best Wii game I have played so far. - the gameplay in itself is outstanding. Although it's mostly 2D, there were its 3D moments and they were quite good. Overall I like the 2.5D concept. - the zones in itself had a great level design. I would like to say right now that the background in Starlight Carnival is very stunning! - the power-ups were useful, and had nice references to Mario. Namely, the green float wisp, the blue cube wisp, and the yellow drill wisp. - this game is also quite challenging. A lot of the red rings were well hidden, and although I'm only on Planet Wisp so far, it definitely isn't your average casual game. I actually game over'd on Starlight Carnival 3 and Planet Wisp 1, both times trying to get those damn red rings <_< - the story is just your average Sonic story, although the cutscenes were done pretty good. Not much to say here. Overall, Sonic Colors is a really awesome experience. I can't wait to see what awaits me in the later zones! :D (Btw, how is the DS version?) November 27, 201015 yr I heard the DS version is reminiscent of the Rush games, if so then it's very good. While i do disagree with the "best wioi game to date", i most certainly agree it's the ebst Sonic game in a while.

Just beat the game today, the final boss was an absolute joke. Bosses are definitely the worst thing about this game. Has anyone here found all red rings yet? I'm having real trouble with the Sweet Mountain and Planet Wisp ones... 120-ish out of 180 so far. December 3, 201015 yr Aparently, if you get all 180 rings [hide]You unlock Super Sonic, which you can activate by collecting 50 rings inside the level[/hide] Anyways, I think i'm going to pass on this one. Just delivered a bunch of bananas in GAME so i can have a free copy of Donkey Kong Country Returns. Aparently i'm the only one in portugal to know about this promotion, since i was the first one to give them the bananas at 1:30 pm <.<
December 4, 201015 yr Hmm, really? Seems like a neat reward for getting all 180 red rings then. 150-ish so far, got all on Tropical Resort, Starlight Carnival, and Planet Wisp (it's a much easier place with powerups enabled now). Some of the ones in Sweet Mountain are hidden in real clever places... the ones in Aquarium Park also requires lots of exploration. Cbf doing Asteroid Coaster yet. By hunting for red rings, I also noticed a flaw in the game: rehashed areas. If you look carefully around each of the acts of a zone, certain areas look very alike to one of a different act. I'm not even kidding. I'm going to point out some major examples: - The first spaceship in Starlight Carnival 1 is EXACTLY the same as the one in Starlight Carnival 2. - The beginning area of Starlight Carnival 3 is reminiscent of one of the areas in Starlight Carnival 5. - Certain areas (particularly the Drill ones) are the same in some of the Tropical Resort acts. - The areas where you use Spike to traverse in Planet Wisp are also exactly the same in a few acts. - The large underwater area in Aquarium Park is EXACTLY the same in acts 1 and 3. You can even see the drill pipes in 3, but you cannot enter them as you only get Rocket in that stage. - Asteroid Coaster 3 and 5 use the exact same area. - I haven't seen anything noteworthy in Sweet Mountain. It's not to say this is a HUGE problem - the difference in the power-ups and gimmicks throughout the acts more than make up for the rehashing problem. However, there really is no reason to rehash the bosses. All of them are very easy, and the rehashed versions are not that hard, some are even easier (Planet Wisp boss). Music is also used repeatedly, though the awesomeness of the music makes up for it. It makes me wonder though, why do all the other zones have 3 versions of their music in the acts, yet Starlight Carnival only has 2? Seriously Sega, why be lazy with your designs? The designs are excellent, but rehashing? Seriously? <_< BlogTrimmed | Master Quester | Final BossBoss pets: Bombi | Shrimpy | Ellie | Tz-Rek Jad | Karil the Bobbled | Mega Ducklings120s: Dungeoneering | Invention
December 12, 201015 yr S-ranked all stages so far, except for the final boss in Terminal Velocity. How do you S-rank him? I made all my quicksteps, always attacked when I could, and didn't get hit at all. When I finished I always end with an A rank <_< help plz? I also cleared all stages with Super Sonic. It works out well in some places (S-ranked Terminal Velocity 1, Starlight Carnival 3 & 4, Aquarium Park 5) but in a lot of places it's trash due to wisps being disabled. In some stages you can't even activate Super Sonic because of the lack of rings (Sweet Mountain 6, Aquarium Park 2, Asteroid Coaster 5). Honestly I'm very disappointed with Super Sonic and how it works in this game... even its point bonus is crap (2k bonus every 2 seconds? Hover is 10k bonuses per second and it can be easily spammed). Sure it has infinite boost, invincibility and the ability to break through anything, but that's it. It would be better if you didn't lose a ring every second (hence infinite), but it just HAS to follow tradition... Finished Challenge Mode as well. Ended up with a nice 59m, clearing it within 2 hours or so with 60-ish lives. I want the next game to be Sonic Colors 2. They better add more playables (Tails, Knuckles and Amy, just like Advance games), have a real 7th zone, new powerups, NO REHASHES, and 4p co-op in all stages similar to NSMB Wii. This game gets a 9/10 from me  excellent, but could still be improved on. Yeah, tails appears during Cutscenes but the hedgehog play is great.Spreading their focus would just end up making another Sonic Heroes *shrudders*No no no no NO. I do not mean another Sonic Heroes storyline (though it's just as silly as this game). If you ever played the Advance games (and you did, judging by a few posts earlier) you would see how their gameplay works and how they integrated it into the plot. Make alternate characters NOT forced like Advance 3 and Rush Adventure (which is what Advance 2, Rush, Heroes and Unleashed did wrong). Sonic would just be like how he controls right now. Maybe add spin dash while standing still, by Z + A. Fastest boost out of the 4. Tails would work like Sonic except he's slower, but has the ability to fly. After double jump, hold A to fly for about 5 sec. Kinda work like Cream's flight in the Advance games. Also has the longest lasting Wisp powerup time. Knuckles would also work like Sonic, but has less speed (slowest of the 4) and can glide. Controls activate like Tails's fly control. Cannot cling on walls though (that is what Spikes are for). Homing attack also does the most damage (in terms of bosses) out of all characters. Amy would also work like Sonic except slower (faster than Tails and Knuckles though), has the highest jumps, and can pull out her hammer. Press Z while not moving to activate. Can break blocks of all sorts and smash through multiple boxes at the same time. Can be used midair. Hold Z for a giant hammer attack. Those are just rough ideas, but you get what I mean. Again this is NOT forced alternate gameplay, you can choose whatever you want and still complete the game. Actually, maybe add rings exclusive to the characters themselves? Blue rings = Sonic, Yellow rings = Tails, Red rings = Knuckles, and Pink rings = Amy. It can only be reached with certain characters. Would add more replay value and challenge... December 12, 201015 yr Stil, many of those would make certain abilities obsolete (Hover = Tails, and if they ever implemented Knuckles they would make him cling to surfaces). It would just take away from the development time. Plus, developing a 2D game is completely different frmo a 3D one, and if i remember correctly from my ADV playthroughs that made a lot of sequence breaking and balance issues (Again, knuckles and Tails were the only ones worth playing with). But then again, things can go right, i still don't believe that'll work out.

Spikes can not only traverse on walls and ceilings, it can spin dash for faster speed, whereas Knuckles's wall climbing is slow. Still maybe giving the ability to cling onto walls for easier wall jumps would be good. And Colors is NOT 3D. Why do people still have that mindset? This isn't a 3D game when 75% of the game is in 2D. 2.5D seems more appropriate. Also the Super versions of the characters better be improved upon as well, and let us use Wisps while in Super form dammit.
