June 9, 201016 yr Heap, I just got blue screen of death. Don't know how or why, but I got it.In the control manager window, (from pressing ctrl+alt+delete) I thunk I shut down somethig called explore or something. Immediately after doing this, my laptop screen back ground reverterd from being White (it randomly changes itself which is [bleep]ed up) to what it was before. But then my desktop icons where gone, and I couldn't access the start menu. Then, the [cabbage] hit the fan and I got the fail. Just booting it into safe mode now to see if I can fix anything but I doubt that I can. OS is windows xp sp3. Edit: [bleep]en aye. Cant even boot into safe mode or do a system restore. Got: "unmountable_boot_volume" My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
June 9, 201016 yr Explorer[Caution: Executable File] (when not running through the file browser) is basically the component of Windows which displays information (taskbar, icons etc), essentially, it's the core of Windows GUI. When you close it, in task manager you can click File -> New task (run..), and then in that box type explorer[Caution: Executable File] and it will restore the screen back. I don't know how, but it sounds like your installation (or hard drive) is corrupt. That's my initial thought anyway. POH Agility Course, Please Support!
June 9, 201016 yr What Racheya said. You can try to take out the HD and connect it to another computer in slave mode to see if your files can be saved, but you'll probably need a new HD, and of course a fresh windows install. And never end those system processes without knowing what they do :P "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti

June 9, 201016 yr Don't see what a power supply has to do with that but meh. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
June 10, 201016 yr Author Yeah, I was under the impression that Explorer was interent explore. Lol :(So that explains why it reverted back. Why it corrupted my drive, or whether it was just a coincidence is beyond me... So so far, my only option would be to remove the hard drive, back up what i need, then re-install windows. Any help would be very much appreciated. June 10, 201016 yr The error you get on the blue screen would seem to indicate you will need a completely new drive. If killing explorer[Caution: Executable File] (internet explores executable is iexplore[Caution: Executable File]) was the only issue you'd be able to restart it no problem.
