Herblore

I am trying to achieve 96 herblore from level 86 right now but I have no idea how do I actually go forth training this skill efficiently. I already have Mirionic's spreadsheets open but I have no idea how I go about doing this. Right now I have approximately 200m to work with + I can throw in my claws as well (but I would rather keep them).

My question is where do I start? Every time I look at a good training method it seems that some item is unbuyable on the exchange. I don't mind using up all of my money but I am hoping to get my money's worth. I plan on making overloads later, should that affect my training method?

Again 200m is my budget, so please do not suggest a method that is way out of this price range.

For pure moeny with no return, super defences seem the best(not too sure about this). If you want to make useful potions most of the untradeable ones are 30 gp each if made from scratch. It's also more useful to do it this way because you will need overloads/extremes/antifires/sup prayers/rest attack later on. At 30 gp/xp you should almost get the desired level.

First off thank you so much for responding.

I do not really mind if I don't reach 96, as there are always stews to help me out. What I do want to do is the get the best out of my money. So should I just proceed with making extremes and then make overloads later. If so does anyone know with my budget how many of each extreme potion should I make.

If you buy super energies and fruitfall scrolls to make your own papayas, spec restores are around 22 gp/xp. so if you made all of your own papayas, it would cost you around 133m for 86-96. if you just bought papayas along with super energies, it would cost around 181m.

Of course, xpx is also right in that you will need extremes and such later on. but you can do some of each, cause i doubt youll need 4k or so of each extreme. But thats just my thought.

If you plan on monster hunting or hardcore slaying then I would make 1-2k Overloads atleast. It just depends on what you want to get out of herblore.

I was in the same position a mere 3 weeks ago. I found a solution that I am extremely satisfied with, now that I myself am 96 herblore. I will walk you through exactly how i did

You should make spec restores until 88 herblore. They are very fast and relatively cheap exp. Once you hit 88, you will eat, sleep and breathe extremes. Buy the supplies for 2.2k of each extreme potion, and ~600 extra extreme attack and str pots (for things you dont want overloads for). Also buy 2.2k tortstols. You should be looking at spending about 170-180m if you do it this way, and you will leave yourself with enough pots for the rest of your rs career. Make 2.2k of each extreme pot as you achieve the level to make them. ie: make 2.2k extreme attacks, then 2.2k extreme strength, etc. The reason you want 2.2k is because thats approximately how many it takes to level from one pot to the next. By the time you finish all your pots, you will be 92, somewhat near 93. You could either start making overloads, or do the final 600 of extreme attack/strengths. I would make them first. The higher your herblore level before you stew will make getting the appropriate boost easier. You will then stew 2.2k overloads. By doing this, you will get very fast exp while also providing you with all the overloads you would ever want. Once you finish all of this, you should be 96 herblore, or very close to it. I believe i was a mere 150k exp away from 96 when i finished, so i just made some spec restores to finish off the level. This method is expensive initially, but in the long run, it is cheaper.

If you consider making tradable pots, i think its a mistake. Tradables will cost less initially, but then you will be left with high herblore and no extremes/overloads. A hypothetical situation of this could be you finishing getting 96 herblore, but then realising you want to boss hunt a lot. Well, looks like you need to make a lot of overloads/extremes. You could very well level to 99 and beyond in making the pots to boss hunt, which leads to wasted money. For herblore, anything beyond 13m exp is wasteful and unnecessary (unless you are zarfot, of course.) Whichever you choose, good luck. You wont regret 96 herblore :)
