need help leveling mining and smithing with several methods

Featured Replies

Before I ask my questions I will give my background info

I want level 60 mining and smithing

I am 49 smithing

I am 58 mining

I only have 2 million pure gold

I am level 70ish combat

I am looking for a cost effective way to get my smithing and mining to 60. I obviously have to mine for mining though. So...

where should I mine, what should I mine? I am looking for what will get me the fastest mining xp. I don't want to do the drop ores method though in particular, I know lots of people like that, but I would prefer to avoid it.

For smithing keep in mind I can get the goldsmithing gauntlets and I can get some sacred clay hammers too, i have some prototools in my bank. I want to know if there are any end products that are worth more than the starting product, or anything that is relativly good too smith without losing money. I bought a whip at about 2.4 million gold so my money is low. I can't do much about that. It seems hard to find any smithing guide because it is such a boring outdated skill that was ruined by the ge.

Sorry Brand, I was a man in the first place, sorry to disappoint you. :\

I haven't been keeping up with the whole mining scene lately, but from the data I collected a few months ago you should mine iron in Yanille (or use a kyatt and mine in Piscatoris, or use an ardy achievement cape to mine at the monastery), banking the ores, and sell them to buy gold ores, which you would smelt in Edgeville. You'll lose about 900k, which isn't too bad. I'll edit this post if I find there's a better method for you.

Yep, I would go with a piscatoris or yanille, where there are 3-iron spots in a highly-populated world.

If you have 30 Mining, 30 Smithing and 43 Magic you can buy Coal, mine Iron Ore and Superheat into Steel Bars.

Then once you get to 55 Mining and 50 Smithing you buy Mithril Ore, and mine Coal.

Pretty slow but you won't lose money. ;)

If you just want experience, just power mine the Iron Ore.

thanks guy but I figured out the best method for me.

I will share it just incase anyone wants to know

This first part could be optional but I like to do things like this.

1.start in the GE.

2.take carts to keldagrim and buy all the iron, coal and mithril from the blast furnace ore seller for cheap ores 1 time daily

3.smelt and smith any mithril bars

4.buy coal and iron ore from the ge

5.smelt steel bars

6.smelt cannonballs

7.sell cannonballs for a small profit

8.gain money instead of lose it on smithing using this slower but good method to lose no money. I choose time over money ;)

For mining, check out my AoW mining guide. The link is in my sig. If you wouldn't mind contributing some data, that would be awesome as well.

For smithing, you can either smith the stuff you mine (not recommended), or you could make your best platebody with SC hammers (fastest option), or you could smelt gold with gauntlets. Unless you can make adamant platebodies, I recommend smelting gold.

Beware that it is not simply slower. This would be just about the slowest xp in the game for a minimal profit when there are so many good methods out there.

This will be extremely slow. You're better off losing around 1m and saving a week or two than you are making a little bit of money and losing a lot of time. You can easily make up for your loss of funds in a few hours using the right methods.

My suggestion would be to...

1. buy toadflax seeds.

2. Plant them with super compost.

3. Sell the toadflax back.

4. Use the profit to level smithing... Probably smelting gold with the gold smithing gauntlets would be good imo.
