White noise

About 30 minutes ago my surround system suddenly started playing static and suddenly it refused to play any sound at all, it was like it was unplugged.

I couldn't fix it so i thought i'd just switch over to my speakers, that worked for a minute untill they started to play static aswell and then just like my surround set gave up playing sound entirely.

I had one final option left and those were my headset, a 6 year old headset that always payed static played perfectly for a minute (it never played sound perfect) untill it started to play static aswell untill it dropped dead like my other options.

While working on it i suddenly hear a very very silent sound coming from out of my speakers i couldn't quite make out what it was (i had a track palying so i could hear it if it's fixed, i tought it was the track playing but...) and i came closer and put my ear all the way next to my speaker and heard a strange demon like ghost-ish voice saying two words that i didn't understand, it sounded like those words were recorded and played backwards.

I don't believe in ghosts, could it possibly be a virus? (no it's more likely a ghost...lal -.-) I scanned with 3 programs but didn't pick anything up i am pretty certain i downloaded something i should have because my pc response time is way slower than before.

I already restored to an earlier system save but that didn't fix it.

No sounds work yet and it's not my sound card that needs to be updated.

So what could it actually be? As far as i know there's no other explanation, so i'm asking you :D

I have norton and avast running all the time and they didn't pick anything up.

I must have downloaded a virus although i wouldn't know where and how.

I probably should not mention the voice i heard or i will probably not get a response, please people if you read this i'm not making this up, unfortunatly :(

Try using the speakers/headset/surround sound with something else, and see if that works. That way you can isolate the problem to your pc at least.

Oh, and post a HJT log please.

It is very bad having 2 antiviruses on the same computer. Unistall Norton and update Avast, to make sure it has it's files intact. Also, you could scan with malwarebytes.

I do think the problem could be elsewhere though.

Why would it be bad to have 2 antivursses running?

Everything works fine on my tv, immediatly tried that but forgot to mention it.

The problem is my PC but i can't figure out what part.

I'll see my brother tonight, he's a pc technician he should find the issue.

Every antivirus will basically have a large amount of control over your system. If you have two of them, they may identify things the other ones does as possible intrusions, treat their files as viruses, etc.

The speakers could of blown, or the amplifier built into the soundcard could be broken. If the amplifier has broken it won't be able to reproduce the sound properly, which is probably why you are getting the small sound coming from the speakers. To me, it sounds unlikely that you have a virus.
