At the Beach

Featured Replies

Kinda disappointed with this shoot a little. Should have gone down half an hour earlier (So down there at 6 in the morning), so I can do longer exposure without it being over contrasted or too bright.... And then in some I had crap on the lens (Thankfully at the top so I could easily correct it in Photoshop). All part of the learning process I suppose :)

Also, it's amazing what you'll find. I've been to this Site (North Head, for Shiny) so many times, and I never knew this existed. I want to go back here at night.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Did you get the solar eclipse? It should have been at least partial in New Zealand. :S

There was a solar eclipse?

Yep, early this morning.

EDIT: Actually, it could be tomorrow morning.

No, it was this morning. Wasn't visible from where I was :(

Last is December 21, so I'll get that one ;)

Could you give some C/C on the Photos if you don't mind, Da_Latios?

The second one seems overexposed. The first one I like how you got a decent exposure with a relatively long shutter speed (I think; can't really tell without EXIF and it being a resized pic). I think you were just unlucky and these would have looked great on a different day. Although, some more post-processing on the first one and it'd be better. I like the rocks and the mountain, and the mist. It really feels like morning.

Wanted to get the blur of the water, while it not being too bright. Here is the original:

I'll try some more post processing...

Holy crap, 25 aperture, 100 iso and it was this bright? Are you sure you didn't take this pic on Mercury? o_o

The first one is quite good, though the lack of colour makes it a bit boring. I don't really like second one though, the horizon is pretty crooked too. Foreground is underexposed, while the background is overexposed.

Thanks for that, I'll try and fix it up.

If you want to do some awesome long-exposures at the beach, I'd buy an ND8 filter.

You may have to spend a little money getting a filter holder though. Cokin do a reasonably priced piece of kit - if you use a standard kit lens for these shots you'll need an 86mm holder.

The ND8 filter looks like a piece of tinted glass, if you didn't know already.

I'm sure it would be.
