July 24, 201015 yr So I have a jailbroken iPod Touch with OS 3.1.2. I downloaded a few mp4 files and while they play just fine on iTunes, I get a "this movie could not be played" message when I try to play them on my iPod. Now, these movies are hogging up quite a bit of memory, so I would like to know whether there is a way I can get them to work, or whether I should run a restore or just delete them. If I do restore, is there a way I can save all my jailbroken apps + specs? Stuff like Backgrounder, iFile, gpsPhone, etc.? Thanks. ~It's Super Effective! July 24, 201015 yr Then I would suggest Handbrake and have it convert the video(s) into the iPhone format.
July 24, 201015 yr .mp4 and .m4v are the same file type you just need to manually change the extension because to make it work it needs to read it as .m4v. If your using a mac (I'm sure it's the same as windows also; if not probably done through properties) just find the file double click on it and then erase ".mp4" and replace it with ".m4v". You shouldn't need to reconvert it.
July 25, 201015 yr Author Ok thanks, will try. It's in an iPod format, it just doesn't want to play. I converted it using Miro into an iPod format. ~It's Super Effective! July 25, 201015 yr i know this sounds strange, but once i had the same problem with movies i downloaded. i went into properties and changed them to "music videos", put them in an on-the-go playlist and they worked. July 31, 201015 yr If .mp4 doesn't work for you, try .mov . Regarding jailbroken apps, I'm not sure if there is a way, someone above said there is so try that. If you try to appsync apps downloaded with Installous, for me it just erased them, so I don't think you can do anything about that, but you should have no need to reset.
